A 56-year-old man has been arrested as part of a major operation to tackle large-scale waste dumping across Lancashire. πποΈ
The Joint Unit for Waste Crime joined Lancashire Policeβs rural taskforce and the National Crime Agency during a dedicated day of action, targeting multiple roadside and lay-by dumping sites. The vehicle believed to have been used in the offences has also been seized. πβ
Officers are now investigating similar incidents across Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Environment Agency. ππ
Phil Davies, from the Joint Unit for Waste Crime, said the operation shows the power of agencies working together to protect communities and the environment. ππ€
Lancashire Police highlighted the serious impact of fly-tipping β from landowners footing cleanup costs to damage in sensitive wildlife habitats. Officers say offenders often travel long distances, making multi-agency work essential. πΎπ«
The Joint Unit for Waste Crime continues to expand, bringing together specialists, investigators and former police officers to target the most harmful waste criminals. Their coordinated intelligence work is leading to more arrests and stronger action against organised waste crime. πΌβοΈ
Residents can help too: always check that anyone collecting waste is a registered carrier, and report any suspicious waste dumping to the Environment Agency or Crimestoppers. π’ποΈ
