On 6 October, the Bewdley Express commuter service between Bewdley and Kidderminster, was operated by Severn Valley Railway volunteers Ben Darby and Charlie Delaney, who both work for West Midlands Railway in their day jobs!

While volunteering on the Severn Valley Railway, Ben (Driver) and Charlie (Guard) operated the Bewdley Express trial services, offering a unique collaboration between Severn Valley Railway, West Midlands Railway and West Midlands Rail Executive. It provides a convenient rail link for commuters, connecting into services from Kidderminster to Birmingham, Worcester and beyond.

It’s a great demonstration of how heritage and modern railways can work together, with dedicated railway professionals volunteering their time to support a service that benefits the local community.

Thanks go to Ben and Charlie in helping make the Bewdley Express a success. 👏

All proceeds from merchandise, memberships and raffle tickets support the ongoing maintenance of our eight heritage vehicles.

We’ve had our green two car class 108 in service between Bewdley and Kidderminster, our blue two car class 108 on display at Bewdley, and our three car class 101 has been at Bridgnorth.

👀 For those visiting over the Severn Valley Railway Diesel Gala 1-4 October, we’ve got a little surprise for you at Bewdley Station..

Our new Blue & Grey class 108 DMU vehicles are on display at Bewdley, visible from Platform three.

We’ve also got our merchandise stand on Platform two on Thursday, Friday and Saturday where we have exclusive new merchandise including the blue and grey 108, as well as our usual group products.

You can enter the Take a Seat raffle, bring your counterfoil tickets and pay for your raffle tickets on the stand - with cash prizes to be won 🏆
