Chapter 17- Foundations set in stone 🏡

Late 1995, and Richard and Val have been working away designing and putting the foundations down for the transport office! We’ve outgrown the portacabin near the old cattle shed and we’re ready for something bigger, more homely🏡

As you can see it’s been the focal point for some of our iconic photos, new lorry’s and welcoming everyone to FairField farm🚛 with it being the first thing you see when entering the yard, it had to be just right as with anything done over the years!

30 years later it’s still the centre point of the transport aspect of the business and hopefully will be here in another 30 years serving exactly the same purpose 📚

Chapter 16- hold tight we’re taking off🚛💨

August 1995 and we’re in the outside lane and running away with transport! Another 6 brand new Scania R360 cabs have joined the fleet and our company is going from strength to strength FAST!!!

Along with bulkers, the delivery of boxed potatoes is in high demand and frowning throughout the 90’s! Not only do we transport them in tautliners but the temperature controlled fully insulated curtain with fridge unit was added to ensure the fresh produce arrives at the correct temperature 🌡️

Notice in the first picture the cattle shed behind the truck has now changed to a store? This is in the build up to the yard expanding on one of many occasions and if you look closely you can see Richard aged 34 at the time with two of his children Simon aged 8 and Kimberly aged 10 outside the temporary office🏡

Chapter 15- another new truck order!🚛

While the 90’s had started with a bang there was always time to expand, and so we did! 2 brand new DAF 85’s joins the fleet to an ever growing Mason Bros!

But while this was all happening, the other trucks was hitting the tarmac hard! A regular through the story of the business was Geoff Gilbert, who also based in the village of Swineshead had a fleet of light blue very well suited liveried trucks!

The Scania and the Volvo both loading trailers for GG with their time critical fresh fruit or meat market deliveries direct from a tropical country means these delivery times must be met!🚛💨

Chapter 14- the road to success🛣️

August 1993 and Richard’s just loaded the Bedford on the back of the Scania to take down to Brighton for a road run! What a combination to roll down the road with😍 we still have the Bedford tucked away in the shed! Who knows maybe one day it’ll make a return👀

The 8 wheeled Scania was brought second hand and painted in Mason red for a very specific job! We used it Solely for carting stone on the Sutterton-Wigtoft A17 bypass and the A16 Sutterton bypass and once completed it was sold on to pastures new as there was no use in the business for it with bulkers taking off 🚀

Marvellous March!💐

We’ve been that busy we’ve forgotten to put this weeks post on🤣but don’t worry we’ve had some cracking photos!

Bulk, box, containers and fridges have been in full flow over March and it’s rolling into April just nicely!🚛💨 we’re also in full prep for the first show of the year at Truckfest Lincoln in under 2 weeks! Make sure if you go to pop and say hello to our drivers on bank holiday weekend!🚛

Chapter 13- building the foundations of success!🏡

As we progress through the early 90’s we see more and more development happening within the business! 4 brand new 113 scania 6X2 are added into the potato transport fleet! That stunning colour scheme really set these little beauties off!😍

Not only are we adding to the logistics but there’s foundations being put into place for that ever growing yard, but what was them bricks for on the flatbed 👀

We also had lorry’s up and down the uk with us lending a hand to a local company across the village, Geoff Gilbert International! There infamous light blue livery wouldn’t be missed on the motorways, but you can see 2 of our trucks lending a hand with their fridge work!🚛

When a customer asks what’s the furthest you’ll go to deliver a load of spuds… we sent them this photo of when NASA spotted us doing a back load and tell them the skys the limit! 🌒only joking mars is about the limit but we could squeeze a Milky Way in or two 😉

Chapter 12- way to trucking cool😎

Picture this, it’s August 1991 the sun is shining the grass is freshly cut and 6 brand spanking new Volvo F10 tractor units turn up at Fairfield farm! Now that was a line up😍

In the yard there was a variety of trucks, with a couple of white ones which defiantly stood out from the usual livery! These were on hire from Roy Humphrey at Diss for the season to make sure all the transport was covered for our ever growing customer base!

All apart from the blue an white one which Chris went to Essex one Sunday morning and brought. Funny enough, he only went to buy one and somehow came back 3 🤣 one of which we painted in the masons livery and that’s the one on the front of the double deck cattle trailer F733 RHK “Ahead of the herd“ with the R113 360’s being one of the best trucks we’ve had over the years! 🚛
