Summer has officially arrived, and the brighter weather means our passengers are eager to get out and enjoy the sunshine!

We want to make sure no one misses out on a sunny day because of transport worries. Your micro-task this month takes just 5 minutes and helps us map out the community.

Your Mission:

Spot a Spot: Next time you are out, note down a local summer event, a accessible garden centre, or a lovely flat walking path that would be perfect for our passengers.

Drop us a Message: Send us a quick DM or comment below with your suggestion!

Why it matters: Our team uses these suggestions to plan our group trips. Your 5-minute message could inspire our next Monday afternoon outing, giving our regular passengers a wonderful day out in the fresh air.

🚀 **WOW! What an incredible start!** 🚀

A massive thank you to everyone who has already donated and shared our campaign. Because of your amazing support, our new minibuses are off to a flying start!

But the journey isn't over yet, and we need your help to "keep this fantastic momentum going!" While having these "new-to-us" wheelchair-accessible buses in Crickhowell and Brecon is a game-changer, the daily reality is that running costs don't pause. Every day, we face the expense of fuel, specialised insurance, and safety checks to ensure our members over 60 and those with disabilities can get out of the house and stay connected.

If you haven’t had a chance to support us yet, now is the perfect time to help us push towards our goal.

🌟VOLUNTEERS' WEEK DAY 6: Meet Ann!

Today, we are celebrating our brilliant Ann, a woman of many talents who keeps things running beautifully at Crickhowell t Dial-a-Ride!

If you ring our office, you’ve likely spoken to Ann manning the phones. And if you’ve ever been to our Thursday coffee mornings, you’ll know she is truly the "hostess with the mostest," welcoming everyone with warmth and a big smile.

Ann’s heart for the community doesn't stop with us, either. She is a powerhouse volunteer who also lends her time to support other fantastic local causes, including CRiC and the Volunteer Bureau!
Ann, we don’t know what we would do without your energy, your multitasking skills, and your incredible dedication to helping others.

🌟 VOLUNTEERS' WEEK SPOTLIGHT: 40 Years Behind the Wheel! 🌟

As part of Volunteers' Week, today we are celebrating a true local hero. When we say Brecon and District Dial-a-Ride is "More Than a Minibus," we are talking about people exactly like Peter.

After an inspiring 40+ years of dedicated service as a volunteer driver, Peter has recently hung up his minibus keys. While he insists he doesn’t want grand accolades, we couldn't let this monumental milestone pass without sharing his beautiful reflection on four decades of community service.

Peter was instrumental in launching our vital Sunday service, helping residents attend church and maintain their independence. As Peter beautifully puts it:

"Some preferred to maintain their independence and not rely on a friend or neighbour week after week... I often felt I had gained more from assisting these inspiring people than they had from me."

Peter’s retirement marks the end of an era, but the Sunday service must keep turning. To honuor his legacy, we need the next generation of volunteer heroes to step forward.

VOLUNTEERS' WEEK DAY 4: Meet Rob!

Today, the spotlight is on Rob, who has been a dedicated driver for Crickhowell Dial-a-Ride for many years!

Rob absolutely loves driving the minibus and seeing first hand how much our passengers appreciate getting out of the house. For Rob, it’s all about the joy that a simple trip can bring to someone's week.

When we asked him what keeps him smiling behind the wheel, he told us:

“I enjoy volunteering. It’s giving something back to the community, it’s meeting, helping and talking to others. I always feel very content after a shift driving the minibus "

It's dedicated drivers like Rob who make our service "More Than a Minibus." Thank you for all your years of hard work and for keeping our members connected, Rob!

Today, we are heading over to our charity shop to give a massive shout-out to the wonderful Bev! 🙌
