🌡️ It’s peak summer weather
Expect hot, sunny days. Crete often sits around 28–32°C in August.
🌊 The sea feels like a bath
Sea temperatures are usually around 25–27°C, so you can swim morning to evening.
🌬️ You might catch the Meltemi breeze
A cooling wind can blow across the Aegean in summer. It’s a lifesaver in the heat.
🌅 Long light evenings
Sunset is often after 8pm, perfect for beach walks and seaside dinners.
🍉 August is fruit heaven
Think watermelon, figs and grapes everywhere. Fresh, sweet, and so refreshing.
🐢 You could spot sea turtle activity
Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) nest in Greece in summer. You won’t always see them, but it’s a lovely “maybe” while you’re there.
