There have been a number of posts circulating recently about racism within the taxi trade, so we want to make our position absolutely clear.
Tap A Taxi does not tolerate racism, discrimination or hate, and we do not encourage it in any form. It has no place in our business, our community or the taxi industry.
We are a local business that believes in supporting local people and keeping our local economy moving. 🌍💙
Why do we employ local drivers?
✅ Local knowledge – knowing our roads, towns, villages and the quickest and safest ways to get you where you need to be.
✅ Supporting Cumbria – keeping money earned locally within our local economy and helping support other local businesses.
✅ Professional standards and accountability – All Tap A Taxi drivers have card machines, giving customers the option to pay by card. Unfortunately, many drivers using the taxi rank do not accept card payments. This is an issue that needs addressing, and we believe the council should be actively policing and enforcing the rules to ensure the public receives a fair and consistent service. Professional standards should apply across the board, and customers deserve choice, convenience and accountability.
✅ Safety first – every customer deserves to feel safe, comfortable and confident when choosing a taxi.
Let’s also remember something important: you have a choice about who you travel with. If you have concerns about your safety or the service being offered, make the choice that feels right for you. Safety should always come first, regardless of anyone’s background.
We believe concerns about the taxi trade should be discussed fairly and based on facts, not assumptions, accusations or attempts to create division. Racism is a serious issue and should never be used as a label to dismiss legitimate questions or disagreements.
At Tap A Taxi, we don’t care what colour your skin is, where you come from, or even what colour your socks or un**es are! 😂 What matters to us is respect, professionalism, safety and treating people properly.
