🚗🔧 Is your vehicle road-ready for autumn? Research suggests many cars may not be 🔧🚗

⚠️ Breakdowns recorded on motorways and A-roads increased by 24% between 2022 and 2025.

🛞 Tyre issues were the main reason for 19% of breakdowns on motorways and A-roads in 2025.

📅 Many drivers are skipping essential checks:
• 11% missed or delayed their last MOT
• 24% thought their vehicle seemed safe to drive
• 19% knew there were issues with their vehicle but weren't ready to repair them

🔧 Vehicle servicing is also being missed:
• 17% of drivers ignored or delayed their last service
• 10% did so on purpose, 27% said they couldn't afford it

🛞 MOT advisories shouldn't be ignored:
• 87% of drivers are ignoring tyre-related MOT advisories because they assume a passed MOT means their vehicle is safe to drive
• 23% have ignored a tyre-related advisory - of those, 34% thought it wasn't urgent
• 28% couldn't afford the repair
• 8% didn't realise how serious the issue was

We’re proud to once again to be supporting Be Bright Be Seen campaign - helping children stay safer and more visible on their journeys during the darker months.

As the days get shorter and it becomes harder for drivers to see pedestrians and cyclists, especially children wearing dark school uniforms and coats.

That’s where Be Bright Be Seen comes in.

Together with kmfm and Specsavers Medway, we’re giving schools, clubs and youth groups the chance to receive free reflective keyrings to help children stand out in the dark.

Simply attach a reflective keyring to a school bag, coat or uniform and it can help children become much easier for drivers to spot when headlights are on.

Last year, kmfm delivered more than 33,500 free reflective items to schools, clubs and youth groups across Kent and Medway.

This year, we want to reach even more children and help make our roads safer.

👀 Be Bright and Be Seen 👀

With darker mornings and earlier evenings, we are encouraging all residents to be bright and be seen this winter. Less light and potentially hazardous driving conditions can make it more difficult for drivers to see other road users and to stop in an emergency. Make sure you can be seen when you're out walking, cycling or scooting 🦼👣🚴 🛴

We teamed up again this year with KMFM and Specsavers Medway to offer schools and clubs a free reflective keyring for children to attach to bags or outdoor clothing.
