Nights like last night matter:

– Fewer taxis
– People left standing in bad weather
– Feeling more vulnerable

Quick One For Anyone Who Uses Taxis Or Goes Out In The City Centre

Many of you know me through Coxy’s Cab, but alongside that I’m also involved in community work through YES LAAD CIC.

We are currently working in partnership with Northwest Taxi Proprietors on the Safe Journeys programme, supporting the council’s Ending Violence Against Women and Girls initiative.

The safety of women and girls must be a priority, especially in and around transport at night. But improving safety benefits everyone who uses the city centre, including passengers, drivers and local businesses.

We all know many city centre businesses are already under pressure. If people don’t feel safe going out or struggle to get home it affects bars, restaurants, takeaways and the wider night-time economy.

This short anonymous survey is looking at:

• Feeling safe while waiting for taxis
• Taxi availability late at night
• Unlicensed drivers
• In-car safety cameras
• Taxi-only zones and structured ranks
• Practical measures to improve confidence

It takes around 5 minutes to complete and will directly inform real proposals aimed at improving safety and strengthening the night-time economy
