Tonight we had the pleasure of collecting some of our regular customers from Norwich Airport after their lovely trip away — and before they’d even got home, their next airport journey with us was already booked for just a few weeks’ time.

Next week, we’ll be welcoming the newest addition to the JJ’s Private Hire fleet — and for us, this is a genuinely exciting moment.

As a small, family-run business, adding a brand-new vehicle to the fleet is a big investment and something we never take for granted. Every vehicle we add has to earn its place, suit the work we do and, most importantly, improve the service we can offer our customers.

Our Skoda Octavia saloons have become real customer favourites, and they’ve proved themselves to be comfortable, reliable, spacious and absolutely ideal for the type of work we do.

So when it came to choosing our next vehicle, we knew we wanted to stick with something we already trusted…

🇺🇸 ANNUAL LEAVE NOTICE – JJ’S PRIVATE HIRE 🇺🇸

Chris and Heidi are now on annual leave, visiting family in the United States.

JJ’s Private Hire is still operating as normal, and for all local and day-to-day taxi bookings, please continue to call the office as usual. Our team will be there to take your bookings and look after you.

✈️ AIRPORT TRANSFERS & LONG-DISTANCE BOOKINGS

While we are away, we kindly ask that all airport transfers and long-distance journey enquiries are sent to us through our Facebook Messenger page rather than by telephone.

Chris personally deals with all airport and long-distance bookings to make sure flight details, collection times, addresses, luggage requirements and everything else are checked properly and there are no mistakes.

I will still be keeping an eye on Messenger while we are away and will respond to these enquiries and confirm bookings personally.

🚕 DECISION TIME AT JJ’S… AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

As JJ’s continues to grow, we’ve reached that point again…

It’s time to add another vehicle to the fleet.

But this time there’s a bit more to the decision than simply choosing which vehicle we like best.

We spend enough time debating it amongst ourselves 😂, so we thought we’d ask the people who actually matter — our customers.

💒 “Chris, you’ve been a lifesaver. This wedding wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

That was probably the nicest thing I heard yesterday.

We had the pleasure of looking after the guest transport for a wedding at a beautiful but very remote rural venue.

Many of the guests had travelled from London, New York and other cities and, understandably, hadn’t realised quite how difficult it can be to simply find a taxi late at night in rural Norfolk.

Thankfully, the groom had thought ahead.

He contacted us beforehand, put his trust in JJ’s and asked us to take care of the transport.

So that’s exactly what we did.

During the day we had two vehicles shuttling guests from their hotels to the wedding venue.

Then from 7.30pm, we had a vehicle dedicated to the wedding, taking guests back to their hotels throughout the evening.

As things got busier later in the night, we increased that to three vehicles, with the final guests safely dropped off at around 1.15am.

I actually went out and worked the evening myself so I could help coordinate everything and make sure it all ran as it should.

At the end of the night, the groom came over, shook my hand and said:

“Chris, you’ve been a lifesaver. This wedding wouldn’t have been possible without you. You’ve really made our day. Thank you.”

And that, genuinely, is why we do what we do.

Being a rural private-hire operator isn’t always easy. We can’t always accommodate everybody, particularly at busy times, but we will always do our very best.

Yesterday also showed why, if you’re planning a wedding or event in a rural location, please don’t leave the transport until the night itself.

Several guests had tried ringing around for taxis before realising the groom had already arranged everything with us. What would potentially have been a very difficult end to a fantastic day had already been taken care of.

No fuss. No guests stranded. Just everyone safely back where they needed to be.

A massive thank you to the happy couple for putting their trust in JJ’s Private Hire on such an important day.

🚗 MEET & GREET COMPANIES 🚗

We are continuing to encourage airport passengers to please do your research before you book an airport meet & greet.

The approved ones are listed on the LLA website and should be the ONLY ones used.

There are some meet and greet companies operating out of the airport who are not authorised to work out of LLA and have been issued with paperwork to stop trading.
Individual drivers and workers are being intercepted and dealt with.

We are receiving reports of the below which is not an exhaustive list
🔨 Damage to vehicles on return, not your average bump or scrape, some cars not even driveable, keys are thrown to the owners and company rep hot on his foot out of there. 🏃🏻
💰 Money and other valuables stolen from inside the vehicles
🤷🏻 Cars stolen or missing upon arrival
🚗 Cars racking up mileage where they are being driven round whilst owners are away.

If you're being asked to drop your car off at a questionable location, don't do it.

Below is an example of a minibus ferrying passengers back and forth to their cars in a car park in the middle of Luton, which reportedly:
🚫 Has no CCTV footage covering the car park itself
🚶‍♀️ Allows access to anyone on foot or in a car therefore insecure
😔 Is not staffed

Work is ongoing with these companies but we are appealing to the public to stop using them. No trade = no business.

We hate to interrupt people's holidays and cause a problem but vehicles carrying out this unauthorised activity will be seized, and you don't want to be the passenger on it when we start loading it onto the back of a recovery truck!
