🚖 Moray taxi fares to change from November

Moray Council’s Licensing Committee has approved a small increase to the maximum fares that taxis in Moray can charge, following a review and public consultation. The changes will come into effect from November.

The new maximum fare will increase:
📍 From £3.96 to £4.00 for the first mile
📍 From 33p to 35p for each additional tenth of a mile.

These are the maximum permitted fares. Taxi operators can still choose to charge less if they wish.

The fare review is carried out every 18 months as part of Moray Council’s responsibilities as the licensing authority for taxis in the area.

🚖 Moray Council has launched a public consultation on the proposed renewal of maximum taxi fares and charges across Moray.

The proposal includes a small increase to the maximum fare for the first mile, from £3.96 to £4.00, and from 33p to 35p for each additional tenth of a mile.

As always, these are maximum charges, meaning operators can still charge less if they choose.

The consultation is open until Friday 24 July 2026, with feedback being reviewed by the Licensing Committee before any final decision is made.
