It is with the greatest sadness, that after 16 years of providing a taxi service to our rural community, we have had to make the extremely difficult and heart wrenching decision to call it a day on our family business, A1 Taxis, from the 4th April.
The cost of living crisis, year on year insurance increases, fuel increases, obligatory 6 monthly mots on vehicles, yearly council licence plating etc means that now small private operators like us are finding it financially unsustainable.
Over the years we've been able to really serve our community, we've given lifts to hospital appointments, drunken nights out and holidays. Contributing to memories made by hundreds of our customers.
During Covid our drivers were out transporting key workers, vulnerable people and delivering shopping. We also lost one of dearest friends and drivers, Muddles, during this time, who went above and beyond for our customers and met the love of his life through this work.
We've had so many laughs over the years alongside some really challenging times. But now is the right time to close up shop.
We will be contacting those with existing bookings and our regulars to inform them of this decision.
We will all be sad to finish, it's been a real family affair, from driving to helping with admin to sitting as a chaperone for some of our regulars. The whole family has been involved.
We'd like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years, we'll miss you all.
