Safe to say no one is going to forget this summer in a hurry 🌞

Based on the high volume of calls, you're certainly keeping me busy. Obviously it may be taking a little longer to get to some people on our narrow lanes due to the extra traffic in the area so embrace the beauty of the South Hams, feel the warmth on your skin and get busy or if you're on your holibobs, get busy doing nothing 😎

Hello Kingsbridge is a must for what's going on in the area. A breakfast at Aune Valley or a lunch at Thirty Three By The Sea followed by an evening meal at the The Tradesman's Arms will ignite the love of food for many.

Salcombe Information Centre can assist those on holiday with all things Salcombe and there is a lot going on there, on and off the water.

The The South West Coast Path has been extremely busy this year, views to die for and I've been delighted to introduce people to the wonders of a short or long walk with my extensive knowledge of the area. I'll always tell you where you'll find a coffee, ice cream or pint of cider on route 👍 You'll find the The Cove and The Rock Box Devon along the coast path and come highly recommended this time of year.

Separate note with regards to booking a taxi. I'm very aware of a number of local social media posts recently with regards to very high taxi fares for smallish journeys. Allow me to explain what's going on. I would encourage everyone who's booking a taxi to ask if you are speaking to a HACKNEY TAXI driver or a PRIVATE HIRE TAXI driver?

All Hackney taxi drivers, including myself, have the same meter in the car and you pay the fare price on the meter when you reach the end of your journey. If you speak to a Private Hire taxi, you will inform them of the start location and the end location and they will tell you how much the total fare will cost before you book, allowing you to make an informed decision.

This is where the problem arises, if a private hire taxi firm quotes what sounds like extortionate prices, please note they are more than entitled to do this and if you agree to the price they have quoted then that is what you are expected to pay.

Another way to look at it is we all know a packet of Maltesers will be priced at £1 in Tesco's and the same packet of Maltesers at a cinema or on an aeroplane could be priced at £7, as long as you have the information about the price you'll pay, you are free to make a decision whether to agree to purchase, even though in your heart you know £7 for a packet of Maltesers is a rip off 👍

We've made it to British summer time and that means weddings. Plenty of you have booked me for the lunchtime slots, looking your splendid best followed by the return journey later that night when you tend to look and sound completely different 😉

Hopefully the good weather continues? make the most of the great outdoors, and all this gorgeous area has to offer. Whether you're going to a golf club for the day, catching up with friends outside a cafe for a bit of lunch or a trip to the beach for a coastal walk and then followed by a nice cold pint outside a pub, give me a call if you need assistance 👍

Just wanted to touch on the positives and the negatives that Kingsbridge and the villages around us are going through. I'm witnessing firsthand how big a change the area is going through with regards to businesses like pubs, restaurants and obviously the High Street. I would encourage all my customers to check with any business at the moment the opening hours and availability 👍 Things are a bit tough everywhere.

On a positive note it's been wonderful to see the increasing amount of businesses and sole traders that are opening up courtesy of working from home, whether it's in a small office, bedroom, garden shed, or garage attached to the house. I've been amazed at how many hairdressers, dog groomers accountants etc, amongst others that are able to run a business from home, obviously if you need a taxi to get to any of these locations just give me a call 🐕

Easter week obviously showed us how the traffic system around Kingsbridge was not working and thankfully to all those involved who came up with the plan of creating the one-way system, this has definitely allowed traffic to move around the town most days slow and steady.
For myself as a business the Easter week showed that it was quicker to drive from Kingsbridge to Totnes station then it was to drive from Kingsbridge Crabshell to Tesco's in Kingsbridge and obviously that's not good for business when you can only complete a mile in 25 minutes!! We'll certainly need a little bit more patience over the next 3 months with Kingsbridge getting busier through tourism.

Many of you will have spotted our temporary new home for us taxi drivers is in the Quay car park at the head of the Kingsbridge estuary 👋

We now come in to the busiest months of the year with many people coming to visit the South Hams, the place I call home. Give me a call on the number above if you're requiring a taxi and I'll try to get to as many of you as I can.

Train station and airport runs are very popular, restaurant and pubs collection, weddings and parties, hospital's and shopping runs all catered for plus coastal walkers get in touch for those trips to some of the more obscure locations 😀
