๐Ÿพ FROM FROZEN WITH FEAR TO A FRESH START: Autumnโ€™s Full-Circle Happy Ending! ๐Ÿ˜ญโค๏ธ

What a difference nine days can make!

Yesterday was a massive "switch-over" day, and my heart is completely full.

The day started by taking little Monty, a feisty Pomeranian mix, from Burton-on-Trent up to Lincolnshire. I dropped him off with the exact same amazing foster carer who looked after Autumn when I delivered her on 7 June. ๐Ÿ”„

While there, it was time to collect Autumn for the final leg of her journey: her brand-new forever home in Wiltshire, with a lovely lady and another small dog named Trixie! ๐Ÿกโœจ

When I first met Autumn, she was so paralysed by fear that she couldn't put one foot in front of the other. Yesterday, her foster carer carried her out to the van, and she was still a little wary and shaking, bless her. But it was so obvious that she has started to trust the world again. ๐Ÿฅน

On our drive down to Wiltshire, we made a pitstop at the services. I sat in the back of the van with her for a while, offering treats and water to keep her comfortable.

But the real magic happened when we finally arrived at her new home.

Amazingly, Autumn jumped right out of the van on her own, walked straight into the house, and made friends with Trixie right away! No freezing, no panic - just pure curiosity and relief. ๐Ÿ•โค๏ธ๐Ÿ•

Autumn officially has a brand-new name, a beautiful new home, a fantastic new dog mum, and a built-in best friend in Trixie. To see a dog transform from too terrified to move to confidently walking into her new life is the ultimate reward. This is exactly why we do this! ๐Ÿšš๐Ÿ’จ

(Swipe through to watch the video of our services pitstop followed by the magical moment she met Trixie, plus a photo of her and of Monty)

This is all due to the amazing team at Basil's Forever Sofa

A long, wet, but rewarding Sunday with brave little Autumn ๐ŸŒง๏ธโค๏ธ

Sunday didn't exactly start according to plan. After getting back from Saturday's long trip, I made the mistake of polishing off the remaining Haribos from my Friday goody bag. Safe to say, a sugar crash and an upset stomach woke me up on Sunday morning! That'll teach me! ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜‚

Because I was feeling so rough, our departure time was pushed back to lunchtime. But rescue work doesn't stop, and we had a very special passenger waiting for us!

We headed over to Stowmarket to collect a small crossbreed named Autumn for Basil's Forever Sofa, taking her up to Scunthorpe. This poor little soul was absolutely terrified of the world. She was too scared to walk, so we had to patiently and gently coax her in and out of the van.

The incredible team at Basil's has already been doing amazing work with her, and her bravery really shone through.

The drive home from Scunthorpe back to Herefordshire was a battle against torrential rain, finally getting us through the door at midnight. It was an exhausting, long day, but knowing Autumn is safe and on her way to a better life makes every single mile and raindrop worth it.๐Ÿพ

Heartbreak for Kira (and a massive cleanup for us!) โ€“ Can you help this cheeky girl find her forever sofa? ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ•

On Saturday 6 June, it was a very chilly, extremely windy drive to help Basil's Forever Sofa again. We went down to Plymouth to pick up a beautiful girl named Kira from her foster carer, to transport her to a new adoptive family in Boscombe, Dorset.

We actually already knew Kira, as we were the ones who previously had to return her from a past adoptive home back to her Plymouth foster carer. Because of that, we were absolutely over the moon to see her getting another chance!

The Twist: Welcome to "Kibble-Gate" ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซฃ

Before we left, Kira had managed to sneak into a food bag unbeknownst to her foster carer. Safe to say, she overindulged! Towards the end of the journey, she threw up what looked like 5kg of completely undigested biscuits. See the photo (not for those who are squeamish) - we have never seen so much come out of one dog in our entire lives! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Scraping sausage meat on Friday, shovelling a mountain of kibble on Saturday... it's glamour all the way in animal transport!

Introducing... "Sausage-Gate" ๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿซฃ

We kicked off the weekend on Friday 5 June with a brilliant cost-sharing trip for two fantastic charities: Basil's Forever Sofa and Paws of Hope Bulldog Rescue. Both pups were heading up to Scotland from the North East!

First up was Mabel, an absolute star of a French Bulldog picked up from Hemsworth, West Yorkshire. Next, we collected Meadow, a gorgeous Bucova Shepherd from South Shields. Now, Meadow was a little unsure about getting into the van. Her owner had to climb right in to coax her, using the ultimate weapon: a pack of about 8 raw sausages! It did the trick perfectly. Meadow made it safely to her foster carer in Edinburgh, and Mabel was dropped off successfully in Glasgow. Both dogs were absolute dreams to transport.

The Sweet and the Savoury:

On the trip, I was treated to a lovely goody bag packed with Irn-Bru, crisps, sausage rolls (seriously, enough with the sausages already! ๐Ÿ˜‚), and a big bag of Haribos. I saved those sweets for later... which turned out to be a fateful choice!

The Sausage Cleanup:

The next morning (Saturday), I went to clean the van and discovered the lining was completely covered in ground-in, dried-up raw sausage meat. ๐Ÿงผ I spent ages scraping and scrubbing it out. (I didn't get photos of the sausage aftermath. I mean, who takes photos of mashed sausage meat?!).

Despite "Sausage-Gate," it was a fantastic, successful run for two great rescues, and little did I know Saturday had its own "Kibble-Gate" waiting for me!๐Ÿพ

This little star travelled from South Wales ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ to his brand-new family in Staffordshire ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ. He took to his new home like a duck to water! ๐Ÿฆ†โค๏ธ

Being a 10-month-old pup, he did a little puppy mouthing, but he had the most incredible temperament for the 4-hour journey. ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’ก A Quick Safety Note:He wasn't wearing a harness or collar initially on arrival, so one was put on him before setting off. It's a great reminder that wearing a collar and ID tag in public is a strict legal requirement in the UKโ€”toy breeds are absolutely not exempt! ๐Ÿ“œ

Many people think tiny toy breeds don't have to wear collars due to sensitive trachea issues. While medical considerations are important, relying solely on a harness poses a huge risk during transit, as dogs can easily slip out of them! The law is clear for a reason. Safety first, always!
