For years, we’ve been lucky enough to be involved in so many stunning bathroom and shower room projects, but finally, I made the time to do my own!

I loved the tiles we chose nearly ten years ago, but after a decade of being put through their paces by a busy household — along with the discovery of some serious damp problems caused by a poor installation — it was finally time for a complete rethink.

As always, the shower tray is by Resin Rock | Microcement-Ready Bathroom Fixtures . We wouldn’t use any other tray, as their trays are designed to work with microcement and are built to stand the test of time.

For this bathroom, we chose Soie — another on-trend, soft, earthy colour. It’s dark enough to show off a natural-looking microcement pattern, while still being light enough to retain its neutrality.

I genuinely can’t believe this is now my bathroom!

Today we wrapped up this compact shower room in the beautiful village of Rhossili on Gower.

It’s a fun and bold colour choice by RAUM Architects. — Mousse is a colour we haven’t used before, but one we’re hoping to use again. It was also great to work with Raumish Von Raumstein once more. We always enjoy the projects they create and love seeing how they come together in the end.

Sitting right in the middle of the light-to-dark spectrum, Mousse really allows the pattern and movement of the microcement to shine.

We wrapped all the walls and door in the colour. Being such a compact space, and with the room not yet finished by the other trades, it was tricky to get good photos — but Rickie didn’t do a bad job at all!

Our most recent project is this beautifully understated master bathroom.

The design is simple, and that’s exactly what makes it work. There’s something incredibly effective about keeping things considered and allowing the materials, proportions and details to speak for themselves.

We’ve created a complete microcement wrap across the walls, ceiling and floor, using Soie from Ad Lucem. The continuous finish brings a softness and sense of calm to the space, creating the perfect backdrop for the fixtures and fittings that will be added.

Once everything is in place, this will be a beautifully calm and elegant retreat for the homeowners.

Another project completed by us, and another space transformed with microcement.

Next up, there’s plenty of plastering to tackle, followed by an unusually small project in one of our favourite places in South Wales.

For a long time, I’ve used “I” when writing my posts on here, mainly for the sake of consistency. But it’s time for that to change.

From now on, you’ll start to see a shift from “I” to “we” — because the work we do simply couldn’t happen without the people alongside me.

Rickie has been working alongside me for many years now, and together we’ve completed many, many projects. It’s a partnership that works incredibly well. Rickie brings a calmness to my often overthinking mind, while bringing the same energy, enthusiasm and pride to every project that I do.

So, with that in mind, you’ll see a shift in our Instagram posts to “we”. Because that’s exactly what it is — we.

And speaking of we…

We recently finished this master bathroom for the excellent Studio Gennaio.

You can hopefully see from the pictures that this was quite a project — big, high and definitely tricky in places. But my goodness, what an impressive room it is!

We applied microcement to all of the walls as well as all areas of the ceiling.

1 property, 5 shower rooms, 5 shower tray formers and of course all microcement by .matieres - an epoxy free, non yellowing mineral based microcement.

Last week saw the completion of this project — five bath/shower rooms, thankfully all very close to home here in the Vale of Glamorgan.

A craie coloured microcement was incorporated alongside tiles throughout the design, creating a very different aesthetic to what you’d achieve using microcement across every surface. It’s a combination I absolutely love to see, just as much as a fully microcemented space.

All five preformed shower trays were supplied by the excellent Resin Rock. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else for our projects — their trays are specifically designed for use with microcement, making them our go-to choice for shower installations.

I’ve got a few microcement projects on the go at the moment that I’m really looking forward to sharing. In the meantime, I’ve also been keeping busy with some plastering work despite the heat! ☀️💪

This is one flat of many I’ll be working on over the next few months. It definitely threw a few interesting shapes my way, and to make things even more challenging, it’s on the third floor! 😂
