🚨 HMRC DEMANDED NEARLY £80,000.
Our client thought he had been paying his taxes correctly on his rental income.
Then he received an HMRC enquiry asking for nearly £80,000.
He came to us to deal with the case.
We:
✅ Reviewed the full history
✅ Prepared the correct tax returns
✅ Claimed all allowable expenses
✅ Challenged HMRC where claims were initially rejected
✅ Provided evidence and supporting documentation
✅ Reviewed and challenged the penalties
✅ Negotiated directly with the HMRC officer
After reviewing our calculations and the evidence provided, HMRC accepted our position.
We also successfully appealed the penalties and HMRC cancelled them in full.
The final result?
💷 HMRC’s original demand: ~£80,000
💷 Client’s own calculation: £20,000+ plus penalties
💷 Final liability: ~£2,700 😀
That’s a difference of tens of thousands of pounds.
The lesson?
Don’t automatically accept an HMRC calculation.
Tax enquiries can become complicated very quickly, particularly when multiple years, expenses, previous tax payments and penalties are involved.
If HMRC contacts you, get professional advice before agreeing to their figures.
The right advice can make a significant difference.
