In the words of Tom Baker’s Dr Who, “It’s the end but the moment has been prepared for”
Sunday 11th October will be the final day for Paul's Taxi 😢
It’s twenty seven years since Paul Carter Sr. started The Freefone Taxi and eventually took on Stephen Paul to help on Saturday daytimes.
I joined him in April 2001 when we became Paul’s Freefone Taxi.
We subsequently became Paul’s Taxis after, amongst other things, mobile phone contracts stopped covering the cost of free phone calls for customers ?!?
Andrew Bell came and went and came and went (he couldn’t keep away 🤣)
Over time Paul Sr. took a backseat (every pun intended 🤣) until his retirement in December 2015
During the past 25 years we have had the pleasure of having Charles Clark, Steve Downs, my late Uncle David Carter, Martin Webb and for the last ten years Dave Parsons driving with us.
Covid was testing for us all and apparently I delivered over 500 prescriptions to those who couldn’t or shouldn’t go out.
Two years ago car troubles with my Ford Motor Company broke my taxi spirit. Three garages over two counties and several months (including two Ford experts) couldn’t solve, and still haven’t, solved the car’s issues. And several thousand in repairs!!!!
But….. Ultimately, thank you to all my customers over the years during my, close to 1,000,000 miles driving around Melksham 🙏 You’ve allowed me to bring up my children, pay my mortgage and get the cruising bug 🛳️
Here to the next chapter…….
