Right Merthyr. We asked for nominations and you broke us. Proper broke us. 🖤

We wanted a few nice comments. We got hundreds of them. Someone fetch the tissues…

We couldn't pick one. So we're doing FOUR.

1 x Main Prize - Pay Your Rent/Mortgage For A Month
3 x £100 Love To Shop Vouchers

🥇 WINNER

One comment and the whole team went quiet. That NEVER happens. Have you met our drivers.

This amazing woman nominated her husband after her breast cancer diagnosis in December 2024. Four surgeries. Chemo. Radiotherapy. A month in hospital with sepsis. A baby of 10 months and an 8 year old at home.

And this fella just got on with it. Every school run. Every sleepover. Every football match. Learned girls hairstyles off YouTube. Self employed and losing work throughout. On top of all that, his dad and her dad were both diagnosed at the same time so he was caring for all three of them at once.

Three people. One bloke. Never moaned once.

They want to use the money for a holiday when it's all over. Go on then. You've more than earned it.

Congratulations to Beth Louise🏆 We'll be in touch!

🥈 SECOND PLACE

Nat A Lee put Ellie Mae Lewis and her boyfriend Shay forward. Young couple, worked hard, did Australia, came home and bought their first house together. Living the dream.

Then a wall fell on Shay.
Injures his back. He's self employed so no work means no money. Ellie is a CAMHS nurse (hard enough job as it is) and has been doing 5 x 12.5 hour shifts a week to keep things going while their house sits half finished.

All they want is to move into their first home together.

Congratulations Ellie Mae and Shay! Your £100 Love to Shop voucher is on its way! 🏠🖤

🥉 THIRD PLACE

And then there's Jayne Hughes-Payne, Nominated By Zoe Turner.

Jayne lost her husband and her son this year. Took on her grandson. Has been in hospital herself waiting on an op. And through every single bit of it she has shown up for everyone around her, smiling, no fuss, never asking for a thing.

The person who nominated her said Jayne will probably kill them for writing this. Jayne, we're sorry but we're not sorry.

She's just one of those people isn't she. The ones who hold everyone else up while carrying more than most of us ever will. Merthyr is full of them and we are lucky for it.

Congratulations Jayne! Your £100 Love to Shop voucher is on its way. You didn't ask for it. That's exactly why you're getting it. 🖤

🌟 FOURTH PLACE

Gill nominated Margaret Mccusker and honestly the way she put it made us laugh and cry at the same time. A tough cookie who takes far too much s**t but always makes everyone around her smile.

You know what, sometimes that's all that needs to be said.

Congratulations Margaret! Your £100 Love to Shop voucher is heading your way! 🖤

Hand on heart, choosing between these comments has been one of the hardest things we've had to do. Every single story mattered. Every single one.

We are absolutely buzzing to do more of these so watch this space because we are just getting started. 👀

Merthyr looks after its own. Always has.

🚕🏠 THE BIG ONE, MERTHYR! 🏠🚕
We've had a rubbish week with all the Google nonsense, but you lot have shown us so much love that we want to give something proper back.

So here it is: WE'LL PAY YOUR RENT OR MORTGAGE FOR A MONTH. 🤯
(Show Us Proof And We’ll Pick Up The Tab)
Times are tough for everyone, and if we can take that weight off one family's shoulders for a month, that's worth more to us than any Google listing!

HOW TO ENTER: Nominate someone in the comment Thread On The Original Post, who deserves it and tell us why. A hardworking mam, a good neighbour, someone who's had a rough year, anyone you think needs a break. Our drivers can nominate their favourite customers too!
(And yes, you can nominate yourself, we won't tell 😄)
LIKE the post, TAG your nominee, and we'll announce the winner 12th July 2026.
From all of us at Evan's Taxis, thank you for having our backs. Merthyr looks after its own ❤️🚕
