Autism Family Support for Monmouthshire

🌈 A huge congratulations to our Autism Family Support Coordinator, Emma Howick! 🌈

Emma is the proud author of 12 autism support booklets, created to help families better understand and navigate different aspects of autism.

Drawing on both professional knowledge and personal experience, each booklet has been designed as an easy-to-read, practical guide offering understanding, support and encouragement to families, carers and professionals alike.

These resources are a fantastic achievement and reflect Emma’s passion for ensuring that families across Monmouthshire have access to clear, compassionate and helpful information.

We’re incredibly proud of the dedication, expertise and lived experience that Emma has poured into this project. Thank you, Emma, for making a positive difference to so many lives. 💙

Do you have access to a car and a few spare hours to help others in your community?

We're looking for volunteer drivers to support local people with journeys to medical appointments, social activities, shopping trips, and other important destinations.

A small amount of your time can have a big impact by helping people stay connected, maintain their independence, and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Day 5 of Volunteers Week 2026 and what a day we've had here at Bridges Community Car Scheme! 😍

Today some of our Monmouth volunteer drivers came together along with other Bridges volunteers and staff members for a wonderful guided tour discovering Monmouth, followed by a lovely catch up in Estero Lounge.

We love meeting and getting to know our volunteers more, and we know how important it is to stay connected with the amazing people who give their time to support our community. Opportunities like today allow us to strengthen those relationships, share experiences, and celebrate the incredible contribution our volunteers make every day.. and most importantly have a good time and lots of laughs 🥰

Volunteers' Week Volunteering for Wellbeing Bridges Centre Bridges Befriending Scheme

It's Day 4 of Volunteers' Week 2026 and today we would like to recognise one truly exceptional volunteer, Nicola.

Nicola joined our Bridges Community Car Scheme in 2017 as a volunteer driver, helping people get to the appointments and activities that matter to them. Very soon after joining, she began supporting the wider running of the scheme too and has been an invaluable part of the team ever since.

Today, Nicola generously gives three days every week to support the service. From answering calls and coordinating journey requests to carrying out passenger sign-ups, welcoming new volunteer drivers, and supporting our coordinators with administration, she is involved in almost every aspect of the scheme.

Drawing on her extensive professional experience in senior HR and consultancy roles, Nicola brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication and care to everything she does. Her support helps ensure the scheme runs smoothly for both passengers and volunteers alike.

What makes Nicola particularly special is her unwavering commitment. Even when she's away on holiday, she still finds time to check in and offer support wherever she can.

Quite simply, the Bridges Community Car Scheme would not be the same without her. Nicola's contribution over the last eight years has helped countless people access the support they need, while also strengthening the service behind the scenes.

Nicola, thank you for everything you do. Your generosity, reliability and dedication make a real difference to our community every single day.
