We've had a fantastic weekend away in our Guy Wolf 'The Niblett'. We are currently about 300 miles into our trip and running well. This little Coach is on one of the longest trips it has ever done. If not, the longest.

Yesterday was a collect it day for TLMS. 2 Vrs and a Mary made it back safely bar a few niggles with 623 through being sat.
Today Mary 347 underwent a full service and inspection, tomorrow a brake test and a few adjustments ready for a weekend on The Number 11 Vintage Bus Service

Being already MOT'd shes fit for the road post inspection etc.

Saturday will see two Marys working together for the first time in a long time

Whats better than a Queen Mary?

Well, 2 of course.

HCD347E is one of 3 remaining Panoramics of 23 made. These were the last of Queen Mary's for Southdown. By the time the Panoramics were delivered, most companies were taking delivery of One Man Operated Buses such as Vrs and Fleetlines

This particular batch has some strange extras and styling. Such as the bigger windows, rotovent ventilation (instead of opening windows)

The controls inside the cab for the driver were located in a different place, for example on 410 the wiper switch is behind the drivers head! Not the greatest place for it.

Northern Counties over the years experimented with many types of heating, one was that hot inside that drivers called it the Kettle. The radiator was fitted inside the vehicle with the passengers!!

That didn't work so they went back to just being cold.

347 will be available for hire immediately after a service and inspection ready to make people smile.

Its been a long and wet weekend for Troopers Lodge. The The Number 11 Vintage Bus Service ran all weekend as usual moving people around the Cotswolds. RUF & BOW were on special wedding duties in Great Tew and finally Queen Mary 410 had a day at Epsom Derby.

Remember the 11 service runs every weekend including Bank Holidays. This is great way to sample one of our Buses for as little as £3.

When you travel with us, you are helping a family business keep these old crates on the road. Its not just a job to us, its a way of life.

WEEKEND DRIVER REQUIRED

An amazing chance to join the staff at Troopers Lodge driving our lovely old ladies.

We are looking for an occasional weekend driver. Typically would suit semi retired person or someone with flexibility to drive the 11 service and occasional weddings.

You must be (here comes the list)

Holder of a clean PSV license and a current CPC.
Enhanced DBS checked (we will assist with this)
Able to drive older vehicles (crash box not important but a big plus)

Able to run a service bus with paying passengers including ticket machines (setright and card machine while keeping to a timetable.
Training will be given to successful candidate.

Care in your work, we have 0 tolerance to abuse to vehicles and general public.
The love of older Buses, this isn't Stagecoach or Go Ahead. This is a passion and love which has evolved into a fantastic run family business.

Drivers are required to assist with cleaning and other duties, generally muck in and help.

Be presentable and well turned out

Polite and helpful with the tourist trade.

Not be frightened to ask for help when required.

If you think you are all of the above then realistically you should be running the country. If thats not your thing, get in touch and drive

Good rates of pay and well looked after.

Vetting of both parties will be undertaken 😊, we don't bite.

Cotswold Vintage Bus Rally 2026

With 3 months to go we are happy to announce that we are nearly at full capacity for entries. With 36 Buses and Coaches of all eras on display with most of them running in service its shaping up to be another fantastic event. This year celebrates 5 years of the Cotswold Vintage Bus Rally and more importantly 60 years of the Bristol Vr.

So far 8 Vrs of all series are booked in, some travelling as far as Yorkshire and our friends at the Isle of Wight Bus Museum not to mention all the others.

Once again a big thank you to all of the 26 Volunteers, Drivers and venue for making this event possible

We really look forward to seeing you.

KUF199F the naughty Bus has been on the lifts for the last 2 weeks. We haven't had a Bus that has given us soo much trouble before we've even used it! Here was the last few major jobs before being presented for an mot next week. New radiator, starter motor, service so on and so on. We are finally ready to MOT.

We might even have her on the 11 service next weekend.
