Let's talk about something that matters: making the hours you put into private hire count.

Last week, the average Ideal Cars driver earned £21.68 per hour online.

That's based on time online, not just the time spent with a passenger in the car.

Of course, individual results vary depending on when you work, the bookings you take and how you use your time. This isn't a guaranteed hourly rate, but it gives you a real insight into what our drivers achieved last week.

At Ideal Cars, we're working to make the time you spend online as productive as possible.

Here's how we're doing it:

We believe every driver deserves fair access to longer-distance opportunities, without a hierarchy of favourites.

🛣️ DOUBLE HEADERS WHERE POSSIBLE
Heading out of town? If there's a suitable return booking available, we'll look to give it to the same driver. That's another potential fare without automatically sending a second driver out for the job.

💷 ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT-WORK MONEY SOONER
We're preparing to introduce instant withdrawal of 50% of eligible account-work earnings after a completed booking.

🕒 YOUR HOURS, YOUR CHOICE
No set shifts. Work full-time, part-time, evenings, weekends or around another job.

📞 24/7 SUPPORT FROM PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND
Our local call centres operate around the clock, with priority lines for drivers. Our owners understand the job from both the office and driver's seat.

🎉 LOWER COMMISSION WHEN YOU JOIN

• Weeks 1–4: 10%, capped at £65 per week
• Weeks 5–8: 15%, capped at £97.50 per week
• After 8 weeks: 20%, capped at £130 per week

We're particularly keen to hear from drivers available during our busiest periods: 7am–10am, 2pm–6pm, evenings into the early hours and weekends. Drivers working other hours are welcome too.

⚠️ ADVANCED WARNING ⚠️

✈️ East Midlands Airport ✈️

A quick heads-up for customers using Ideal Cars for journeys to or from East Midlands Airport.

From 3pm on Tuesday 29 September, East Midlands Airport is increasing its charges for the Rapid Drop Off facility. You can see the full details in the airport’s original post below.

Unfortunately, this means that the cost of some airport journeys with Ideal Cars will also need to increase slightly to reflect the additional parking charges we now have to pay.

We appreciate that nobody likes seeing the cost of travel increase, and we want to be clear that this is not a decision made by Ideal Cars, nor do we have any say in the airport’s parking charges. We will simply need to pass on the additional cost so that these journeys remain viable for us to provide.

We wanted to give our customers advance notice rather than have anyone caught by surprise when the new charges come into effect.

From 15:00 on Tuesday 29 September, the charge for East Midlands Airport's Rapid Drop Off will increase to £8 for 10 minutes.

The Rapid Drop Off is barrier-free, with payment made online, by phone or automatically via an AutoPay account by midnight on the day after your visit.

One hour of free parking is available in Long Stay 2 car park.

Pre-booked parking is the best option for customers planning ahead and staying for longer.

That's why new drivers joining Ideal Cars start with a reduced commission:
🔵 WEEKS 1–4
10% commission — capped at £65 per week
