WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO SEE THE LIGHT? 💡

Half a year on, and Roadchef Rownhams Westbound is again being “mentioned in dispatches”… but not in a good way.
🔸 Same driver.
🔸 Same reviewer.
🔸 Same issue with the lighting.
But this time there’s more…
🗣️ “They can put in brand new EV chargers for cars, but can’t re-surface the truck parking area or fix the lighting.”
It doesn’t stop there:
“Toilets are disgusting and smell of poo, they don’t flush properly, and the facilities badly need updating.
The showers are clean-ish, but tired.
Same goes for the Eastbound side which only has four cubicles and a considerably smaller toilet area… both sides need revamping!”
My reviewer last stayed there in January and took the time and trouble to send me a video of the extremely poorly lit HGV parking area, showing it to be dark, inhospitable and potentially dangerous.
Of course, we’re now in June and benefitting from lighter evenings… but undeterred, my driver waited until after dark to recreate his short parking area movie!
Sadly, it was pretty much as dark as that winter’s night.
The lights are definitely off at Rownhams.
One brighter spot in the darkness was evidence that work had been carried out to patch up parts of the truck parking area, and there did appear to be ongoing repairs and resurfacing taking place.
It’ll come as no great surprise to learn that Roadchef Rownhams Westbound received a “Pass It 👎” endorsement on HGV1 Radio during my “Park It or Pass It” feature alongside Simon Williams.
Because whilst shiny EV infrastructure is important…
So are the drivers delivering the goods.
What will it take for drivers to finally see the light?
