Delivering net zero is no longer simply about ambition, it's about implementation.

Operators across the supply chain are now looking for practical, commercially viable ways to reduce emissions while maintaining operational performance and competitiveness.

Join our Head of Policy, Chris Ashley as he discusses how net zero ambitions can be translated into meaningful action across road freight and the wider supply chain.
Drawing on real-world operator experiences and industry data, the session will explore the lessons being learned by fleets making the transition and the practical steps needed to accelerate progress.

As National Lorry Week concludes and UK Logistics Week begins, this discussion will focus on how the industry can move from ambition to action.

What does a career in logistics really look like?

For Lewis Newlands and Luke Dougall, it started with an apprenticeship at John Mitchell Haulage and Warehousing in Grangemouth. Today, both are Traffic Planners, helping coordinate the movement of goods across the UK and beyond.

Their story highlights one of the key messages behind National Lorry Week: our industry offers far more than people often realise. From planning and operations to compliance, customer service and management, there are countless opportunities for young people to build rewarding careers.

This year's theme, "The road that connects everything", celebrates the people behind the scenes who keep businesses supplied, communities connected and supply chains moving.

As Lewis and Luke discovered, sometimes all it takes is one opportunity to start a journey.

Hot weather is continuing - whether you’re behind the wheel, in a depot, workshop, office or out and about, please take sensible precautions.
Keep water close by, take breaks where you can and protect yourself from the sun. If the heat is causing an issue, flag it with your manager or employer.
Most importantly, look out for each other.

The future of freight depends on the people who keep it moving.
With an ageing workforce, ongoing recruitment challenges and increasing pressures on driver wellbeing, the industry faces a significant workforce challenge in the years ahead.

Join our External Affairs Director, David Boot and the panel at Multimodal as they discuss the future of the driver workforce, exploring the challenges of recruitment, training, wellbeing and workforce development.

The discussion will focus on the practical steps needed to attract, develop and retain the skilled people our industry needs to thrive.

As UK Logistics Week continues, this session will explore how the sector can build a stronger, more resilient workforce for the future.

πŸš›πŸ’¨ National Lorry Week 2026 is underway.

A big thank you to Paul Merson and Dean Windass, pictured here with RHA's Rhys Williams, for helping us mark the start of this year's campaign.

Over the next seven days, we'll be celebrating the people, businesses and vehicles that keep the UK moving, while highlighting the vital role road transport plays in keeping businesses supplied and communities connected.

Follow the campaign throughout the week and help us showcase an industry that moves 85% of the UK's freight by road.

Today in Westminster, our Policy and Public Affairs team welcomed 40 MPs at drop-in event to promote National Lorry Week.

National Lorry Week officially starts tomorrow, and this was a fantastic opportunity to brief MPs face-to-face on the critical issues facing our industry.

We discussed everything from rising operational costs and skills shortages to the vital role road freight plays in delivering 85% of all goods across the country. πŸ“¦πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

We look forward to seeing many of these MPs supporting our members and visiting transport hubs in their constituency in the not too distant future.
