As our lorries travel across the country today, we take a moment to reflect on the journeys made by those who served before us, men and women who showed courage, resilience and selflessness in the face of unimaginable challenges.

Many from our island and communities like it made great sacrifices so that future generations could live and work in freedom. Their strength and spirit continue to inspire the way we live and work today.

From all of us at John Mackirdy Haulage, we honour their memory and their legacy, and we’re grateful to everyone who takes time to pause and remember.

From our early days on Bishop Street, to the modern fleet keeping island businesses connected today, a lot has changed in the world of haulage, but our commitment to reliable service and community hasn’t.

The lorries might look a little different these days, but the name on the front and the purpose behind them remain the same.

For more than a century, John Mackirdy Haulage has been proud to keep island businesses connected with the mainland through every kind of weather, ferry disruption, and road closure imaginable.

We’re grateful to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far, from past drivers and customers to the next generation keeping the wheels turning 🚛

A big congratulations to our driver Richard Dunn achieving a highly commended award at Truckfest 2025. Great to see him get the recognition after all his hard work.

As a company we’ve always taken great pride in our trucks. From designing the paint job to cleaning them everyday, it’s a lot of work to maintain the standard and therefore all the more rewarding to get the recognition. Well done Richie, you’ve done the company proud! 🚛💨 🏆
