All our drivers are licensed by the local authorities so the relevant licences are required. If help is needed with these Akar Taxis may be able to help.

Akar Taxis offer a very competitive pay structure which is self-employed based. Vehicle and all running costs are supplied by Akar Taxis so there is no overheads from yourself. You just get in drive and earn.

Due to owners looking to take a step back, Akar Taxis are looking for someone to help run the business alongside other drivers and also looking for more drivers to help with the ever increasing workload.

The ideal candidate to help run the business will already have a Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Licence from the Isle of Wight Council and have extensive knowledge of the taxi trade on the Island. They will be of a smart appearance, a polite mannerism, be able to work as part of a team or on own initiative and be able to manage many tasks at the same time.
This is a self-employed position.

Drivers we are looking for will be over 25 years old and under 70, due to insurance, with a full driving licence held for more than 2 years. They will also need a Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Licence from the Isle of Wight Council. Help in obtaining the licence can be given to the right drivers.

I can assure everyone that all of our reviews are genuine. The good, the bad and the ugly ones all are genuine. None of our reviews are filtered to give 5stars only or are paid for by companies writing non-genuine reviews. Unfortunately, it has been brought to my attention that there are taxis on this Island that are charging extra because of the price of fuel and also some drivers are charging for travelling to the fare. Thankfully neither of these apply to Akar Taxis as we do things the right way.

To all our customers and future customers,

With the crazy prices of petrol & diesel at the moment and the cost of everything going up due to transport cost, we at Akar Taxis can assure all that our fares will not be increasing. Our fares are governed by the local authorities and it is up to them to increase the fares not the taxi driver. If a driver says their fares have gone up due to the fuel cost, they haven’t. If the council put the fares up people will be told through social media and the press.
I hope this puts peoples mind at rest.
