Scunthorpe Women welcomed Boston this week for their first home league game of the season 💪🏻
The game started at a frantic pace and each team trying to win the tackle contest . We knew Boston would come at us hard having come down from a much higher level of rugby. Some excellent set up by the forwards created massive overlaps for the backs to work with . When we did keep hold of the ball we looked impressive . Scunthorpe managed to get on the front foot first after sustaining loads of pressure . Hayley crossing the line after some well worked green balls securing her first try for the women’s team 🤩. Some brilliant scrummaging and great interplay with the forwards and backs allowed metres to be gained and further tries followed. Our go forward was positive , plenty of ground made each time we were in possession and our systems looked great and we built and built as the game went on , a real team performance . 💪🏻 We thank the opposition for their continued persistance . The final score was 27-10 with tries right across the team sheet showing a whole team performance!
Player of the match / Opposition player was Cassie Milestone for her great go forward and her huge kicking game which Boston couldn’t handle . It got us out of trouble on numerous occasions and allowed us to reset and go again ! Her positive energy is contagious and we are glad she is fully back in a playing shirt !!
Coaches player - Hayley Burlinson who had a fab day around the park , a maiden try and her try saving tackles made her stand out for the team !
Well done both players !!
Players also wore pink today for Breast Cancer Awareness and held a raffle we will be donating £50 of the money raised 💗
