📢 GREAT NORTH RUN – FARE NOTICE

Please note that due to the Great North Run taking place on Sunday, and the road closures coming into effect on Saturday night, all set fares will be temporarily suspended.

From Saturday night, all jobs will be charged on the meter until the roads have fully reopened on Sunday night.

This is due to the road closures and the potential for significant delays and diversions.

Thank you for your understanding and we hope everyone taking part has a fantastic Great North Run! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️

£40 + parking.

Metered fare during rush hour.

I’m not going to offer a cheap-as-chips fare just to get loads of work, only to end up virtually doing the job for nothing. There are plenty of drivers doing that already.

What you do get with me, and the drivers who help me, is:

🚕 Clean, well-presented cars
⏰ Always on time
📍 Knowledgeable, experienced local drivers
🫱🏽‍🫲🏻A reliable service you can trust

We cover airports nationwide, so if you’re travelling further afield, drop me a message and I’ll happily work out a price for you.

Mariners taxis — reliable service, fair prices.

Please book well in advance.

Busy, busy weekend!

A huge thank you to everyone who booked with us on Sunday for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend. We managed to get our customers within a 10-minute walking distance of the event, without them having to wait in big queues for shuttle buses, and we truly appreciate every single one of you.

With customers travelling from as far as Liverpool and Devon, it means a lot that you put your trust in Mariners — and we’re glad we could deliver.

We’ve had an overwhelming number of messages for Big Weekend taxi bookings and we’re now nearly at full capacity for today’s drop-offs and pick-ups.

Huge apologies if we can’t fit everyone in!

Please note that our drop-off point is approximately 1.7 miles away from the site — around a 30–40 minute walk — which should be no problem in this glorious sunshine ☀️

Newcastle International Airport has quietly removed the 15-minute free drop-off and pick-up zone.

Every car park on site is now paid parking. The only “free” option is to park at Callerton and catch a shuttle bus that runs every 30 minutes—meaning passengers have to arrive significantly earlier just to avoid a charge.

For many people, that isn’t realistic. Families, those with mobility issues, tight schedules, or early/late flights are left with no real choice but to pay a parking fee just to drop off or collect someone.

What was once a simple, free 15-minute stop has become another unavoidable cost, with no real alternative.

As a result, local taxi firms, including ours, have no choice but to add these airport parking charges on top of fares.

New Waiting Zone now open! 🚗🚖

As we get ready to welcome a record six million passengers in 2026, we've opened a new facility where drivers can wait for free when picking up passengers.

Located at Callerton Parkway, right next to the Metro station, the site offers up to 90 minutes free parking for taxis, minibuses and members of the public.

We encourage drivers to use this facility to help keep roads in our surrounding communities safe and accessible for everyone.
