Our Trip Club members went on historic day out a few weeks ago to the beautiful Ushaw House and Gardens.

A very knowledgeable and helpful tour guide showed some of our members around, while some decided to explore independently. Whichever way they preferred, it sounds like everyone had a great time!

We’ve had a few people asking if we’ve got another brand-new bus this week after spotting a sparkling white WCT vehicle out and about!

Well, you might not believe us, but no, we haven’t!

Two members of our team have spent the past week giving one of our older community buses some serious TLC. They've been scrubbing, painting and carrying out a few other jobs to give it a much-needed makeover. And we think they’ve done an amazing job because it looks almost brand-new!

We’ve also fitted a rather fancy Starlink tracker to the roof, which we’re currently trialling to see how it could help us improve our services and provide even better support for our customers.

It was out and about on Tuesday taking our Trip Club members to the Arnison Centre. Did you spot it while it was picking our members up?

We are inviting individuals, community groups, and organisations to take part in the ROUTES (Rural Optimised User-centred Transport Eco System) Project, a new initiative funded by the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority to improve transport options across rural areas of the North East.

ROUTES aims to make it easier for people to access employment, healthcare, education, and community activities by developing more flexible, accessible, and demand-led transport solutions. The project is focusing initially on researching West Gateshead, South Northumberland, and North County Durham, working closely with local communities to understand existing transport challenges and identify gaps in provision.

By combining local knowledge with detailed transport data, the project will help develop practical solutions that meet the needs of rural residents. These could include community transport services, shared vehicles, accessible transport options, and demand-responsive services that complement existing public transport networks.

To ensure the project is shaped by those who use transport services, we are asking residents, groups, and organisations to complete our survey and share their views.

It’s an exciting day here at Weardale Community Transport!

It’s NEW VEHICLE DAY! 🥳

We’re delighted to welcome our new minibus to the fleet, and we can’t wait to see it out and about in the community.

Our Trip Club members recently enjoyed a fantastic day out at Dobbies Garden Centre!

It was wonderful to see everyone spending time together, browsing the beautiful plants, enjoying a bite to eat, and, most importantly, having a great time. Days like these are what our Trip Club is all about - bringing people together, making new friends, and creating lasting memories.
