Join our friendly Taxi Booking Office team!

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and organised person to join our busy team at Stanley Bus Station.

⚠️ Please note: This is an office-based role and is not a home-working or remote position.

📞 About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding customer service role where no two days are the same.

Your duties will include:

* ☎️ Answering telephone calls and taking taxi bookings
* 🚕 Dispatching jobs to drivers using our computerised booking system
* 👋 Assisting customers who visit the office
* 🚌 Booking day trips and dealing with coach enquiries
* 📧 Responding to emails
* 🧹 Helping to keep the office clean, tidy and welcoming

⏰ Hours

* 16–20 hours per week
* Job share considered
* A mixture of evening and weekend shifts, including weekend evenings

This can be a fast-paced role, especially during busy periods, so you’ll need to enjoy staying busy, helping customers and working as part of a supportive team.

We’re looking for someone who is:

* ✅ Reliable and punctual
* 😊 Friendly, professional and calm under pressure
* 🗣️ Confident communicating with a wide range of people
* 💻 Comfortable working with computers — basic IT skills are essential
* 🤝 Able to work effectively in a busy office environment

Previous taxi industry experience — either as a driver or operator — would be an advantage, but is not essential.

We use the iCabbi booking and dispatch system, and full training will be provided.

Sharing some great news!! 🚨

We’ve been nominated for a RouteOne award in the UK Coach Operator of the year (16-40 coaches) category!

The awards are long established, greatly respected and acknowledged throughout the industry, so already this is credible recognition. 😀🙏🏻

We now need submit further business information in the hope to be shortlisted which will be announced in July. Then (fingers crossed) the winners will be announced at the prestigious presentation evening at the NEC Birmingham in November. 🚍🚌🌟

Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, fuel costs have risen sharply in recent weeks. Alongside our self‑employed drivers, we have done everything we can to absorb these increases, but unfortunately this is no longer sustainable in the long term.

With regret, we will be introducing a fare increase from
𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟯𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

**𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙖 (𝘿𝙃9, 𝘽𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 & 𝘽𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚)**
The minimum fare will rise to £3.70, and the mileage rate will increase by 12p per mile. (Fares will still be rounded to the nearest 10p.)

**𝘿𝙪𝙧𝙝𝙖𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙫𝙚**
Fares in these areas follow the Durham County Council rates of £4.90 for the first mile and £2.40 per mile thereafter. These rates cannot be changed without council approval and will therefore remain the same for now.

Durham County Council have announced Increases in fares for concessionary passes used before 9:30am.
The fare will increase from 50p to £1.00 on 1st April 2026.

Bus fare changes from 1 April 2026 📣

From 1 April 2026, there will be some changes to local bus fares.

🚌 Concessionary Bus Pass Holders
The discretionary fare charged outside statutory hours will increase from 50p to £1.

🏷️ Durham Day Rover
The price of the Durham Day Rover ticket will increase from £5 to £6, as part of the North East Combined Authority's changes to day ticket prices.

We are aware of the footage circulation on social media at the moment of a blue private hire car with our name on the side.
This footage was filmed around a year ago and was brought to our attention at the time.
We took a very serious view of the incident at that time, and appropriate action was taken with regard to the driver.
