When our 10th girder frame joined the fleet, the initial focus was on the equipment itself. However, the frame was only one part of the overall project solution.

Planning, permits, engineering, HSEQ, project management and operational delivery all came together to transport two 224te generators from the Port of Leith to Eccles, near Coldstream in Scotland.

The AK912 was recently in action near Watford to complete the emergency removal of the Oxhey Grange footbridge. The work was required after significant deterioration was identified in the structure.

The AK912 completed two lifts during the operation and was configured with 440te of superlift counterweight for both lifts:

Lift 1 was configured with a 85m main boom at 71m radius to lift 150te
Lift 2 was configured with a 95m main boom at 84m radius to lift 71te.

The removal was planned during a rail closure and completed ahead of schedule allowing for an earlier reopening of the West Coast Main Line.

Our LG1550 has completed the lift of the new Hampton Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge in Evesham.

The bridge, measuring over 90m in length and weighing 86te was lifted into position across the River Avon and provides a dedicated pedestrian and cycle route between Hampton and Evesham town centre.

For the lift, the LG1550 was configured with 220te of superlift ballast and a 77m boom, working at a maximum radius of 44m. An Allelys 100te support crane was also on site.

The operation followed six months of planning and close collaboration with our client MJ Hughes to prepare for the lift.
