Starting this Wednesday, US citizens visiting the UK will need electronic travel authorization—even for layovers.

The US has ESTA in place for years for the countries that do not need a visa to enter the US. The UK and EU are basically doing the same now!

It is a visa waiver online application that can be approved within minutes and valid for two years or until your passport expires whichever is earlier! It is an added layer of border security! Pre-travel authorisation! If you need a visa waiver, it means that you are lucky and do not need a visa, just a simple online application.

A one-week warning has been issued to anybody who owns a UK passport - ahead of renewal fees being hiked massively. The prices will rise by 9 per cent next Thursday (February 2).

The cost of replacing an expired passport online is set to increase by £7 to £82.50. The price for kids will increase by £4.50, from the current £49 to £53.50, according to the government.

It will also cost more to apply for your new passport through a paper form collected from Post Offices, too. The price for this will rise by almost £10, from £85 to £93.
