The host for Logistics UK's Logistics Awards 2026 is... none other than Josh Widdicombe!

We are thrilled to announce Josh Widdicombe will be the host for our Logistics Awards this year.

Josh Widdicombe is one of the UK’s best-loved comedians, described by The Guardian as an ‘ace observationalist’. Starring in over thirty series of the multi award-winning Channel 4 show The Last Leg, Josh also served as team captain on Sky Max’s Rob Beckett’s Smart TV and co-hosted hit shows Hold The Front Page and Hypothetical. He’s made multiple appearances on the nations favourite TV shows including QI, Live At The Apollo, A League Of Their Own, Have I Got News For You and Taskmaster, as well as performing on The Royal Variety Performance. A familiar voice in UK comedy and entertainment, Josh is firmly within the BBC Radio 2 family as a regular cover host, and as well as presenting Pace Setter for BBC Sounds.

Changes to standardise van legislation come into effect today removing the nonsensical situation that saw standard size electric vans treated as HGVs when it came to MOTs, driver hours requirements and tachograph use.

The change in law follows sustained government engagement by Logistics UK and was described as “a victory for the environment and common sense” by Logistics UK Chief Executive Ben Fletcher when they were confirmed last month.

It is only the extra weight from their batteries that moved electric vans into the same category as HGVs, and regulatory alignment between electric and conventionally-fuelled vans can speed up the adoption of cleaner vehicles by removing additional costs and complexity.

Logistics UK members should contact the Member Advice Centre (https://logistics.org.uk/membership/member-information-services/member-advice-centre) for guidance on how they are affected by change in law, and it is essential that operators ensure vehicles remain compliant with all applicable regulations, not just MOT standards.

From National Highways: Funding applications open for lorry park improvements.

Lorry parking operators are being urged to apply for funding to help improve facilities after a multi-million-pound fund announced an extension for applications today (28 May 2026).

Launched in 2023, extra funding has been made available through the Lorry Park Improvement Scheme to increase capacity, improve security and improve welfare facilities such as toilets, showers and gyms at lorry parking areas.

The new grants are set to cover up to 50 per cent of capital costs - businesses are invited to apply through the National Highways website here: https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-work/designated-funds/customer-and-communities/

Applications are open to all lorry parking operators, including those who have already benefitted from the scheme to fund further improvements.

Since the Lorry Park Improvement Scheme was established, National Highways has contributed over £15m through it's Designated Funds Program, which has been matched funded by the industry. Combined with support from the Department for Transport, nearly £69m has been unlocked to improve journeys, security and the wellbeing of HGV drivers.
