🚨 URGENT TRAILER SAFETY WARNING 🚨

TyreSafe has issued an urgent warning to UK trailer owners following a four-year analysis of Strategic Road Network data covering 2022–2025. 🚛⚠️

Towing-related breakdowns have risen to 4,830 incidents a year, with tyre problems consistently accounting for around 25–28% of breakdowns involving towed vehicles. 🛞

The North West has been identified as a particular hotspot, with trailer-specific tyre incidents increasing by 40% since 2022 and the region accounting for 21% of all national tyre issues. The M6 and M62 corridors are among the areas highlighted. 📍

The figures also show a major maintenance gap:

❌ Trailer tyre failures now account for 48% of all tyre issues nationally
⚠️ Horsebox tyre failures have increased by 21.5% since 2022
✅ Caravan tyre failures have fallen by 6%

TyreSafe is urging trailer users to carry out an A.C.T. check before every journey:

🔵 A – Air Pressure: Check pressures are correct for the load.

🔵 C – Condition: Look for bulges, cracks, damage or embedded objects.

🔵 T – Tread: Ensure tyres meet the legal minimum tread depth of 1.6mm.

A few minutes checking a trailer could help prevent a dangerous roadside breakdown — or worse. 🚨🛞
