Santa’s Enchanted Journey returns for Christmas 2026!

Join us at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for a magical steam train adventure filled with festive fun, friendly elves and a special visit from Father Christmas! ✨

🎄 There’s plenty to look forward to:
🎁 A luxury gift for every child, delivered by Santa
☕ Hot chocolate and cookies
📖 Christmas stories, sing-alongs and games with the elves
🦌 Meet an adorable baby reindeer puppet
🤶 A visit from Mrs Claus on board!

The magic begins at Wirksworth Station, where you can join the elves for Christmas songs, send a letter to Santa and make a wish at the platform wishing tree. The Candy Cane kiosk will also be selling festive food and drinks. 💌

🚃 Choose your experience:
Standard: Seating in an open coach, refreshments and time with Santa.
Premium: Your own private compartment, refreshments, extra time with Santa and a photo with him.

What a lovely weekend it’s been at the railway!

There’s something very special about seeing the railway full of life, with friendly faces, happy visitors and people of all ages enjoying time together. Weekends like this remind us how much the railway means to so many people, and it’s been a pleasure to share it with you.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and spent part of their weekend with us. We also want to say a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful team and volunteers. It’s a real team effort, and weekends like this wouldn’t be possible without you.

With autumn well underway, our thoughts are also beginning to turn towards Christmas! 🎄✨

There’s something especially magical about the railway during the festive season: wrapping up warm, spending time with loved ones and enjoying those little traditions that make this time of year so special. We’re looking forward to sharing some Christmas cheer with you as the season gets closer.

A lovely day of steam in the Ecclesbourne Valley!

We’re having a wonderful day here at the railway, and it’s been a pleasure welcoming passengers aboard our regular steam services. Thank you to everyone who’s joined us so far!

Full steam ahead for a Saturday in the Ecclesbourne Valley! 🍂🚂

Our regular steam services are running today & tomorrow, Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 October, and we’d love you to join us for a journey through the Derbyshire countryside.

Step aboard, settle into your seat and enjoy the views as you travel between Wirksworth and Duffield. With the sound of a steam locomotive leading the way, it’s a lovely opportunity to slow down and make the journey part of your weekend.

Whether you’re bringing the family, meeting friends or indulging your love of steam, come along and enjoy a little railway nostalgia. There’s something special about watching the countryside pass by from a train window. ❤️

Join the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Association at Wirksworth Town Hall this evening for a wonderful night of live music, raising funds for the New Station Building Appeal.

The BM&W Band will perform an entertaining programme of popular music, featuring familiar themes from films and musicals alongside a varied selection of favourites. Whether you love music from the big screen, the magic of the musicals or simply an evening out with friends, come along and enjoy the occasion.

A licensed bar will be available during the evening, and there will also be a raffle for you to try your luck! 🍻

Every ticket helps support the appeal, with all profits from the concert going directly towards EVRA’s New Station Building Appeal. It’s a chance to enjoy an evening of entertainment while supporting the railway’s future.
