Η Λίνδος είναι ένας από τους αρχαιότερους και σημαντικότερους οικισμούς της Ρόδος, με ιστορία που ξεκινά από την αρχαιότητα.
Ήταν μία από τις τρεις μεγάλες αρχαίες πόλεις της Ρόδου και γνώρισε μεγάλη ακμή ως εμπορικό και ναυτικό κέντρο. Στην κορυφή του λόφου δεσπόζει η Ακρόπολη, όπου βρισκόταν ο ναός της Αθηνάς Λινδίας, ένα από τα σημαντικότερα ιερά της αρχαίας Ελλάδας.
Κατά τη διάρκεια των αιώνων, η Λίνδος πέρασε από τους Ρωμαίους, τους Βυζαντινούς και τους Ιππότες του Αγίου Ιωάννη, οι οποίοι ενίσχυσαν την οχύρωση της περιοχής.
Σήμερα, διατηρεί τον παραδοσιακό της χαρακτήρα, με τα λευκά σπίτια και τα γραφικά σοκάκια να δημιουργούν μια μοναδική ατμόσφαιρα που συνδυάζει ιστορία και ομορφιά.

History of Lindos

Lindos is one of the oldest and most important settlements on the island of Rhodes, with a history dating back to ancient times.
It was one of the three major city-states of Rhodes and became a powerful maritime and trading center. At the top of the hill stands the Acropolis, where the Temple of Athena Lindia once stood—one of the most significant sanctuaries in ancient Greece.
Over the centuries, Lindos was influenced by the Romans, Byzantines, and the Knights of St. John, who fortified the area.
Today, it preserves its traditional charm, with whitewashed houses and narrow streets creating a unique atmosphere that blends history with breathtaking beauty.
