🏰 King John’s Castle, Carlingford 🏰

We love this post from Visit Carlingford — and if you’ve ever been across the Lough, you’ll know exactly why this spot takes your breath away.

Perched proudly above the harbour with Slieve Foye behind, King John’s Castle has stood watch over Carlingford since around 1190. Today, you can step inside its walls with a guided tour from Carlingford Lough Heritage Trust, bringing centuries of history and local stories to life.

It’s the perfect place to explore on a crisp autumn day — full of charm, character, and incredible views over the Lough.

Lots of mist and fog rolling in over Carlingford Lough now but this was sunrise over Haulbowline Lighthouse from Greenore this morning ❤️🌅
