Tourism Stakeholders Meet Additional Chief Secretary to Discuss Revival of Tourism and Key Industry Issues

Srinagar, June 8:

Representatives of the travel and tourism fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir today met Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Government of Jammu & Kashmir, to discuss several important issues concerning the tourism sector and its stakeholders.

During the meeting, the representatives strongly advocated for the revival of tourism roadshows and emphasized that future promotional campaigns should be conducted in collaboration with local tourism associations. They highlighted that involving industry stakeholders directly would ensure better planning, wider participation, and more effective promotion of Jammu & Kashmir as a preferred tourist destination, ultimately leading to increased tourist arrivals.

The delegation also raised concerns regarding the ongoing renovation works at Srinagar Airport and stressed the importance of ensuring uninterrupted flight operations. It was pointed out that any prolonged disruption in air connectivity could adversely affect the tourism industry and the livelihoods of thousands of people dependent on it.

The need to facilitate the smooth movement of leisure tourists during the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra was also discussed, with stakeholders requesting appropriate measures to ensure that tourism activities continue seamlessly alongside the pilgrimage.

Several other matters relating to tourism promotion, infrastructure development, and policy support for the sector were also deliberated upon during the meeting.

Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured the representatives that the issues and suggestions raised by the tourism fraternity would receive due consideration and be addressed on priority.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with stakeholders expressing hope that continued coordination between the government and the tourism industry would contribute significantly to the sustainable growth and revival of tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
