⚠️ Typhoon No. 6 Update: School Closures Across the Kanto Region
As Typhoon No. 6 continues to approach Japan, educational authorities across the Kanto region are urgently implementing precautionary measures to ensure student safety. As of the evening of June 2, the number of schools announcing closures for June 3 continues to rise.
1. Tokyo's 23 Central Wards
1.1 Temporary School Closures
All schools in Chiyoda, Meguro, Shinagawa, Toshima, Koto, Suginami, and Taito Wards are expected to suspend classes temporarily.
1.2 Online Learning
Some schools in Adachi Ward and Chuo Ward are expected to switch to online classes to avoid disruptions to students' education.
1.3 Pending Disaster Alert Assessment
Schools in Minato, Nakano, and Nerima Wards will make decisions based on Japan's newly implemented disaster warning system (introduced on the 29th of last month).
If the disaster alert level reaches Level 4 or higher (Level 4+) on the morning of June 3, students in these wards will officially be granted a day off from school.
2. Ibaraki Prefecture
According to the latest announcement, all public schools throughout Ibaraki Prefecture are expected to close on June 3 as a precaution against risks caused by heavy rain and strong winds.
3. Kanagawa Prefecture
Kanagawa Prefecture has officially announced that 30 public high schools will be closed on June 3.
4. Other Affected Areas
Other prefectures within the typhoon's impact zone are continuously updating their school operation schedules.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to follow official announcements closely to stay informed about school schedules and ensure their children's safety.
