We pay Afristar 1.2B monthly translating to 14.4B annually. Fuel wasn't subsidized because 18.1B of the collected cash was given to run SRG! NOT PAY DEBT!
SGR on it's best year made 7B. (Sales) translating to 50% loss.
Northern Corridor says there are 5,000 trucks crossing to Uganda daily. If the fuel 800 litres that's 1.46B litres of diesel paid for!
From trucks GoK collects
16.2B - Exercise duty
13.5B - VAT
7.9B - Petroleum Levy (fuel subsidy)
26.6B - road maintenance levy.
NB: this is revenue from fuel only. Haven't factored licenses, corporate tax, income tax, PAYE etc
GoK is destroying a billion dollar industry for a loss making entity. The question is why?
Who is gaining from this arrangement. Who are the owners of Afristar?

OWN TRANSPORT OR 3RD PARTY LOGISTICS.
This was a question to me by a friend in the logistics field.
Logistics and transport is here to stay even in this moment of the coronavirus what has changed is the methodology to meet the lead time.
A lot of technological changes are paramount for making meet the requirement.
The own transporter MUST see the transport department as a different entity so that the investor can enjoy the more befits of being own transporter.!
