Are there times you look at your life and wonder what went wrong? You wonder why everyone else whoās ālessā than you (qualifications, academically, spiritually, age-wise, financially, etc) seems to be doing better than you and attracting so much more positivity and popularity than you? Then you feel a big potato-like lump in your throat..and you canāt identify whether thatās envy or jealousy or anger or feelings of not being good enough?
Yeah, been there. And what I realized was that there was a solution to those kinds of feelings. Because thatās what they are, feelings, not facts. If you look at those who shine, they donāt shine all over the place. Their successes may be broadcasted all over the place, but thatās not where they shine. They shine in their niche, and coverage comes.
In the same way, if you wee faithful and disciplined in what you have on your plate, I mean if you chose one thing and gave it your all, and in an excellent way, you would be fulfilled, and your actions would draw all the needed support - physical, psycho-social, financial, you name it. Your faithful, dedicated, consistent and disciplined activity would also be a good distraction from unhealthy habits such as comparisons and unwarranted pity parties.
Is there something you need to do about this? Identify your niche, for example? Or be true to who you are and who God has made you to be? Or perhaps, stop despising who you are and what you have? A little candle light can light up a whole room. Donāt despise what you have, thinking that itās not good enough. Sharpen yourself at it and see how brightly your life will shine. Be the salt and the light that God made you to be. Use your gifts to serve others. (Matt. 5:15, 16; 1 Pet. 4:10) And if you need to find out how to do this, simply ask.
