CULTURAL TOUR (06 NIGHTS / 07 DAYS)
Day 01 – Arrival, transfer Negombo. P.M. Sightseeing Tour of Negombo
Day 02 – Negombo / Anuradapura.. P.M. visit Mihintale, the “ cradle of Buddhism “.11 K.M. east of A’pura. Its history dates back to 24c B.C. The rock is dotted with shrines and rock dwellings. Also if time permits visit the Aukana , the most magnificent undamaged Buddha image in the islandReturn to Anuradapura Hotel
Day 03 – morning sightseeing tour. Visit Sri Lankas first capital, founded in the 5c. B.C. The unique feature of Buddhist sri lanka is the Stupas ( Dagoba ) which enshrined relics of the Buddha and were objectsof veneration. Visit the Abayagiri & Jethavana Stupas, Ruwanveliseya Dagoba, The Samadhi Buddha, Sri Maha Bodhi, Overnight in Anuradapura
Day 04 – Anuradapura / Polonnaruwa. Check into Hotel for Lunch. The islands medieval capital (11c. & 12c) rose to fame after the decline of Anuradapura. P.M. sightseeing visits. Interesting ruins are the King’d Council Chamber the floral stone pillars, the Royaal Citadel, Kumara Pokuna, The Thuparama with its original vaulted roof, Vatadage Relic house, Guardstones, Kiri Vehera, and also visit the Parakrama Samudraya, one of the largest man made inland lakes in the world, called the sea of Parakarama. Return to Polonnaruwa hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 05 – Polonnaruwa A.M. visit the Sigiriya Rock fortress, built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a Royal Citadel for more than 18 years. It is a complex of buildings. In a sheltered pocket approached by a spiral stairway are the famous Sigiriya frescoes. It is regarded as the 8th wonder of the ancient world.
Like Sigiriya, Dambulla is a vast isolated rock mass wihin the cave Temple is the collection of the largest number of Buddha statues in one place. There is also the recumbent Buddha carved out of the living rock, some 14m Lang. Check into a Hotel in Dambulla, for Dinner and overnights stay.
Day 06 – After breakfast leave Dambulla to Mount Lavinia. Evening relax at the Beach in Mount Lavina and overnight.
Day 07 – Departure back to Airport for your final flight back home.
