Ananda's Tree Planting Project We plant trees so that in 3/4 years time, communities can either eat or sell the fruits and nuts to bring a much needed income for the families.

Ananda has been a chauffeur guide for a Sri Lankan tour company who offer bespoke tours around the country for the last 22 years. In 2012 he came up with the idea of planting coconut, orange and jackfruit trees along with avocado and mango to help poor local families. Ananda purchases the trees and then tourists help plant them on the families land. It is hoped that after 3 to 4 years the trees wi

ll bear fruit and the families can then either eat them or sell them to help make a better life. Over the past two years, 210 trees have been planted for over 55 families. Tourists visit Sri Lanka for many reasons, but nature and wildlife are two important ones. Without trees there will be no nature so if trees are planted and nature is protected so is his job in the tourist industry.
