HISTORY OF THE COOPERATIVE (NOLTRANSCO)
It was in December 2006 when the transport industry specifically UV Express in Region 2 was born, legalized and established through Mr. Daniel S. Gaffud, an Association President then, with more than 20 members from the Provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.
Many other transport associations from other parts of the Region were also born thereafter but most of them failed in time though some are still in operation up to now including the group led by Mr. Gaffud.
The association was then transformed into a Cooperative under the name of Cagayan Valley Operators and Drivers Multi- Purpose Cooperative, With Mr. Daniel S. Gaffud as the Chairman of the Board, with the proposition and support of all the members who wanted transparency in all other transactions and businesses where the Cooperative is involved.
Through the initiative of Mr. Gaffud, together with the Board members, the Cooperative was registered to the Cooperative Development Authority since 2012 and yearly gets its Certificate of Good Standing. It became functional and through its self- reliance progressed with the constant cooperation of the members.
In October 2013 up to the present, the Cagayan Valley Operators and Drivers Multi- Purpose Cooperative was the only transport cooperative accredited by the City of Santiago. Also in August 2014, the Office of the Transport Cooperatives accredited the same.
With the trust, support and patronization of the members and because they see transparency, each of them gave a capital share of stock for the Cooperative to grow bigger and expand its business.
At present, the Cooperative owns its office building, has an Auto Repair Shop, operates two terminals, sell spare parts, diesel, oil and tires and has two van units operating as well.
Because of the constant support and cooperation of the members, van operators and drivers from other cities and provinces saw the growth of the cooperative so they joined their selves. The Cooperative then extended its membership to the provinces of Quirino, Nueva Viscaya and the Cities of Tabuk and Baguio.
In March 2015, the Cooperative amended its name from Cagayan Valley Operators and Drivers Multi- Purpose Cooperative to Northern Luzon Transport Operators and Drivers Multi- Purpose Cooperative.
Many companies want to tie up businesses with the Cooperative. As a matter of fact, a gas station already offered to put up an industrial diesel pump station inside the premises of the Cooperative for the utilization of its members.
But the problem of the members arise when the LTFRB issued a memorandum of phasing out old units and replace it with brand new ones of which they have a difficulty of complying.
With the objective of the Cooperative to extend its assistance to the members, thus the application of a loan to the LBP Leasing Corp. which has an existing transport program that goes with the aim of the cooperative.
The Cooperative’s main aspiration is to strive to become a market leader in the transportation industry with the support and cooperation of the members and with the aid of the government agencies concerned.
