In line with our future progression and expansion, a leading River Transport Company in South Sudan seeking for suitable qualified candidate who are dynamic and self-driven, effectively contribute to the advancement of our company to fill a position of Operations Supervisor- Based in Juba with frequent travel to different duty stations if required.
Background:
This position involves the responsibility of performing operational functions that include the Barge Load \ Offload planning as well as communicating with the equipment Operators and Porters who are physically loading the barges. The job functions must be carried out in accordance with general work instructions and established office practices, procedures and precedents. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Duties and responsibilities:
Determine geographical positions of ships, using computers, and use this information to determine the cargo arrival date and ensure that relevant Company personnel are aware of this information.
Ensure that cargo handling equipment (Fork Trucks, Stacker, Hand Pallet Trucks) are in good condition and are being used correctly.
Ensure that Cargo Tie-Down straps are signed for by Barge Master and returned at trip’s end.
Determine and implement deck loading plan to ensure even distribution of cargo to ensure level draft of barge. Distribute cargo in such a manner that space use is maximized.
Ensure that cargo (especially bulk dry cargo) is secure and properly protected from inclement weather.
Observe and Oversee loading and unloading of cargo and equipment to ensure that handling and storage are performed according to specifications.
Supervise barge crews in cleaning and maintaining decks, superstructures, and other equipment.
Report any defect found on the barges and handling equipment.
Ensure that stringent Health and Safety Standards are applied during loading and unloading of cargo.
Make daily report to Operations Supervisor on activities of Operations and Cargo Handling Dept.
Determine any rarity of fuel availability and get in contact with fuel suppliers and other local merchandise for supply planning.
Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
1- Minimum of 4 to 6 years experience in handling of Cargo, maritime industry is preferred.
2. Degree in Logistic or Transport, Supply Chain.
2- Computer Literate, Excellence use of Excel spreadsheet
3- Must speak Arabic and English
