COPIED.!
Cancer is a word many people fear. Some don’t even want to hear it mentioned. But the truth is, awareness can save lives. When some cancers are detected early, treatment works better, recovery is possible, and outcomes are much more hopeful.
Let’s talk about prostate cancer, quietly affecting many men, yet often detected too late.
The prostate is a small gland found in men, located just below the bladder. Prostate cancer happens when cells in this gland start growing abnormally (It is different from benign prostatic hyperplasia BPH)
The challenge?
In its early stages, prostate cancer may not show any symptoms at all.
As it progresses, some signs may include:
• Difficulty passing urine
• Weak or interrupted urine flow
• Frequent urination, especially at night
• Pain or burning during urination
• Blood in urine or semen
• Persistent pain in the lower back, hips, or pelvis
These symptoms can also be caused by other conditions, which is why testing is very important instead of assuming.
Who is at higher risk?
• Men above 50 years
• Family history of prostate cancer
• Lifestyle factors like poor diet and low physical activity
Here’s the important part, early detection makes a big difference.
Screening tests such as:
• PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) blood test
• Digital re**al examination (DRE)
can help detect prostate cancer early, even before symptoms appear.
When caught early:
🔸Treatment is more effective
🔸The cancer is easier to manage
🔸Chances of survival are much higher
Let’s break the stigma and fear.
Encourage the men around you (fathers, brothers, husband friends) to go for regular check-ups. Seeking medical advice early is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of wisdom.
Awareness is not meant to scare you… it is meant to protect you.
Your health matters. Early action can save a life.
