Team Diabetes Singapore are delighted to invite you to participate in Diabetes Singapore's second PEDAL fundraising event. The event aims to promote diabetes awareness and raise funds for individuals with diabetes. PEDAL 2023 is set to take place on 25 June 2023 at Sports Hub, 100PLUS Promenade.

We believe that this event will be an excellent opportunity for you to promote cycling as a form of exercise and healthy lifestyle, while at the same time making a difference in the lives of those living with diabetes.

Flag-off time will commence at 8.00 AM and participants will get to decide their length of their route. We are confident that you will enjoy participating in this event and will find it a fulfilling experience. Additionally, your participation will contribute to the success of our fundraising efforts, which will directly benefit individuals with diabetes. For donations via PayNow, you may use the QR code or the UEN number found in the attached form.

👨‍🏫 Question:
Most bikes are commonly using 9 speed cassette 11-32T. Why are some bikes using 11-28T? Will the bike be slower?

📖 Our comments:
The main difference is Gear 1. If you are currently using 11-32T, and rarely use Gear 1, you may try using 11-28T.

For 11-28T, based on the increment T value(from photos), your current Gear 2 will become Gear 1. And you have a better power increment from Gear 1-3. Meaning your step up in power for each gear will be more even. May lessen the stress on your legs and knee cap during pick up.

It is suitable if you know your journey don’t have very steep slopes.

👨‍🏫 Question: Is a 10 speed bike faster than 9 speed bike?

📖 Our comments: They are the same speed. (based on same bike parts, same crank ring and rider).

The number 9 and 10 refers to the number of cassettes/gears each have.
Usually the last gear (9/10) is always 11T (11teeth).
The difference is 10 has an additional cassette compare to 9, for better increment of power during cycling. (At Gear 3 & 4).

Therefore since they are using 11T as the highest gear(9/10), they are the same top speed.

Kindly refer to the photos for the increment value of teeth. 9speed vs 10speed.
