✨ A miniature tunnelling machine. A train handgrip. And a sleek robot. ✨

These three symbols marked the collaboration formalised between and Guangzhou Metro Group (GMG) on 3 June. 🤝

GMG operates China’s third-largest rail network and is widely recognised for its innovation, strong safety culture, and high reliability standards. 💯

Recently, SMRT and GMG signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Teaming Agreement. The two partners also launched the SMRT-Guangzhou Metro Rail Innovation Laboratory at Bishan Depot – where they will jointly develop solutions to enhance rail reliability and elevate the commuter experience. 💪

At the signing ceremony, SMRT Chairman Mr Seah Moon Ming presented GMG Chairman Mr Liu Zhicheng with a train handgrip, symbolising support and safety. In return, Mr Liu gifted a miniature tunnelling machine, representing SMRT’s forward-looking vision and a shared ambition for a dynamic, high-powered partnership. 🌟

We were also honoured to have Senior Minister of State Ms Low Yen Ling and 中国驻新加坡大使曹忠明 Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Cao Zhongming to Singapore Cao Zhongming join us for the ceremony, along with a visit to Depot 4.0.

During the tour, they met our new AI-enabled “colleague”– the Intelligent Train Inspection Robot, unveiled at Depot 4.0. Equipped with autonomous navigation, dual robotic arms, and AI-driven image analytics, the robot inspects the underside of trains to identify faults early, improving consistency and enabling preventive maintenance. 🤖

Beyond rail technology, our collaboration also extends to business innovation. Following a successful partnership in Singapore, SMRT’s business arm, Stellar Lifestyle, signed a new tripartite MoU with Guangzhou Metro Resources and IJOOZ, to bring the smart juice machines to new markets. We look forward to strengthening our partnerships and supporting Singapore SMEs in expanding overseas. 🌎

🚌🎉 A new chapter for Service 181!

This morning, together with the Soon Lee team and bus enthusiasts, we celebrated the extension of Bus Service 181 to Tengah Bus Interchange.

With this extension, Service 181 will now operate between Boon Lay and Tengah Bus Interchanges, enhancing connectivity for commuters travelling to Bulim Industrial Estate and strengthening inter-town connections between Jurong West and Tengah.

We look forward to serving more commuters and supporting the growing Tengah community with improved public transport connectivity. 🚏✨💙

🤝📱 SMRT Buses is excited to kick-start our collaboration with SimplyGo!

To better support commuters and encourage greater awareness of SimplyGoSG, a group of our frontline staff recently attended a Train-the-Trainer (TTT) session conducted by the SimplyGo team.

The session provided our staff with a deeper understanding of the SimplyGo app and its features, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to address commuters' queries, share the benefits of the app, and help commuters make the most of its features for their daily travel.

By empowering our frontline staff with better knowledge of SimplyGo, commuters can now receive assistance and guidance at our bus interchanges, making it easier for them to learn about the app and resolve basic queries on the go. 🚏🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

This is just the beginning! Together with SimplyGo, we aim to further enhance the commuting experience at our bus interchanges to raise awareness of the app's features and benefits, support broader adoption, and enabling a more seamless and convenient journey for commuters.

Everyone has a story.

Most of us only see a small part of the people around us. The colleague we greet, the person serving us, the bus captain behind the wheel — we rarely know what they are carrying or what struggles they may be facing.

Jayrius is 's youngest Singaporean bus captain. He is also living with end-stage kidney disease. Yet he continues doing what he loves, serving passengers and driving with a smile. 🤗

His story has touched many, for the way he faces life with strength and positivity despite the challenges. 💪

We're proud to support him on his journey, and we join many others in applauding his resilience, joie de vivre and commitment to his work. ❤️

🤝 SMRT has successfully renewed our Collective Agreement with the National Transport Workers' Union (NTWU) , covering around 10,000 employees across our bus, rail, taxi, vehicle leasing and automotive businesses.

This renewal reflects the strength of our long-standing labour-management partnership and our shared commitment to supporting our people 👥.

The renewed agreement harmonises key employment terms, reinforcing consistency, fairness and transparency across our workforce ⚖️. It also positions us to better support employees through continued wage progression, skills upgrading and enhanced workplace practices as the transport industry evolves 🚆.

We thank NTWU and all colleagues involved for their partnership and contributions throughout the renewal process 🙏. Together, we remain committed to building a progressive workplace where our employees can grow, thrive and continue delivering safe and reliable transport services for Singapore.
