My apologies to all my clients for not updating you with any hiking tours lately. But I have been observing the inclement weather patterns for the last few months, which in my opinion was not safe to venture in, a lot of these areas are where high water levels would be present along with possible landslips!

I made this decision based on the flooding runoff in the East and West corridors in the low lying areas of Trinidad. As well as the reported landsides along the North Coast region.

This Hurricane season has taken a toll on the hiking tours with other Groups and Guides as well, so I believe for our customers safety we have chosen not to. Please note, that there are some Guides who may take the chance with going into these areas, they are putting you, your friends, and family at risk. Please be careful when venturing in high risk areas after a storm or heavy rainfall.

Much of the other Tour Guides are reporting low call outs for hiking tours in the Beautiful Mountain ranges that are waiting to be explored still, but I'm monitoring some areas which would be greatly affected by the rain and its runoff. There are changes that would take place in some areas, this would be a great oppurtunity to see once the rainy season is over, and to go and explore and view what has changed by the forces of nature itself would be worth it.

I would post future hikes soon after this rainy season is over, and we would all have a great time together logging through the rain forest of our beautiful Northern Range. Looking forward to reuniting with all my fellow hiking friends and the introduction of news friends to be made in the coming New Year 2018!

Come join us as we venture to Avocat Falls, situated not far off the Arima Blanchissuse Road. Avocat is a fifty foot waterfall with a lovely pool for bathing. Huge boulders encircle its base and which adds brilliance to the scenery. A secret thrill is to explore the top of the falls where there is a pool and a cozy whirlpool bath.

Its water source flows from a tributary into the main stem, from once below one can immerse oneself in a cool refreshing pool water, even sitting under the Falls to get a well deserved massage which is an option many venture with great enjoyment.

Avocat Falls: Sunday 18th September, cost $40. Parking $25
Meeting point at: Mt Hope Medical Centre Opp. Carpark Entrance 7:30am

General directions:
This journey will start from our meeting point location then following along through Santa Cruz, upward along the North Coast Road, passing some of our beautiful beaches, Maracas and Las Quevas. Then continuing towards the village of La Fillette then into Blanchissuse passing the Police Station and Fishing Depot on the opposite side, not to far from there is a Church on the left.

Then you come to a junction leadinng left and right. We would be taking the road leading to the right in a Southern direction, as the road for most parts is relatively good. This road will lead us to to our final stopping point where we will park the vehicles safely at "Pop's place".

The trek to Avocat Waterfall starts at "Pop's". The walk shouldn't take more than 20-25mins from the carpark to the waterfall as main walk itself would be in water. But not for any lengthy period of time. Once at the Waterfall you can safely leave your belongings and have a cool refreshing dip at the base of the Waterfall, then relax and enjoy yourself wit some refreshments and snacks before we head back out.

Important to note: For those who can't swim, lifjackets would be provided, but if your own you can bring along.

Simple Packing:
1) A backpack must be used hereby keeping your (2) hands free.

2) Proper footwear (sneakers) with good grips under the soles to be worn, No Slippers/Sandals.

3) Secure all electronics in zip lock bags.

4) Sandwiches, water, juice, snacks can be brought along.

5) Insect repellant.

6) Change of clothing and a towel to be left behind in vehicle.
