It is that time of year again. 🍂

Two days in and over 1,300 tons successfully dropped on the ground so far.

Long days, heavy loads, and plenty more where that came from.

Salt season is officially underway. 🧂🚛

Let's Burn Some Money, I Mean Run Highway Miles! 🔥💵

At 65 MPH with diesel at $7.00/gallon:

3 MPG → $151.67/hour
3.25 MPG → $140.00/hour
3.5 MPG → $130.00/hour
4 MPG → $113.75/hour

Run that out over a 12-hour day:

3 MPG → $1,820
3.25 MPG → $1,680
3.5 MPG → $1,560
4 MPG → $1,365

And that is FUEL. ONLY.

No driver.
No insurance.
No tires.
No maintenance.
No equipment payment.
No profit.

The difference between 3 and 4 MPG is $455 in a 12-hour day.

So with that pesky $7 a gallon fuel, a half-mile or one-mile-per-gallon difference is not splitting hairs.

It is hundreds of dollars. Every. Single. Day.

The St. Ignace Truck Show is always a good reminder that apparently some people have time to keep their trucks clean.

We respect that.

We do not understand it, but we respect it. 😂

Always a great weekend seeing some of the nicest trucks around — and with diesel prices where they are, we have even more respect for everyone who paid the small fortune to get them there.

As for us, we will keep admiring the clean ones from a distance.

Clean trucks look good. Dirty trucks make money.

Back to hauling rocks. 🤘
