UPDATE: VRE plans to resume full service on Monday, October 26.

Amtrak’s infrastructure work affecting Union Station is proceeding on schedule. VRE plans to resume full service on Monday, October 26. Updates on any changes will be sent through Train Talk messages and on Train Talk socials. We appreciate our passengers’ patience during this work to upgrade a critical piece of infrastructure at Union Station.

‼️ Union Station riders: From October 16-26, critical Amtrak infrastructure work will eliminate rail access into Union Station. To accommodate this work, VRE will run a modified S+ schedule Oct.19-23, terminating at L'Enfant in the AM and originating from L'Enfant in the PM. Important safety information regarding the rail crossing adjacent to VRE's Manassas Park Station!

City Advises of Intermittent Malfunctions of Safety Equipment at Manassas Drive Railroad Crossing

Manassas Park, VA – The City of Manassas Park is advising motorists and pedestrians of intermittent malfunctions involving the safety arms and warning lights at the railroad crossing on Manassas Drive in the downtown area.

Specifically, the equipment may operate normally at times and malfunction at others. The City is aware of the issue and is working with the appropriate partners to address the intermittent malfunctions.

If motorists or pedestrians observe the railroad crossing arms or warning lights not working properly, they should call 9-1-1 immediately.

The City reminds the community of the following railroad crossing safety precautions:

- Never drive around a lowered safety arm.
- Never stop a vehicle on railroad tracks.
- Make sure there is enough room on the other side of the crossing for your entire vehicle before proceeding.
- Never attempt to lift, move, or interfere with a railroad crossing arm.
- If the arms or warning lights appear to be malfunctioning, call 9-1-1 immediately and use extreme caution.
- Pedestrians should cross only at designated crossings and remain alert for approaching trains.
- If a vehicle becomes disabled or stuck on the tracks, exit the vehicle immediately, move a safe distance away from the tracks, and call 9-1-1.

From train tracks to two wheels, Tour de VRE took participants along our Manassas Line route as we celebrated the power of giving back, connectivity, and the communities we serve.

From the path behind the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center, the Long Bridge Project site is in clear view.

It’s hard to imagine that by 2030, two new bridges will span the space between these two existing structures across the Potomac River; one dedicated to passenger rail and another for pedestrians and cyclists.

Together, these new connections will help to expand rail capacity, while creating new opportunities for people to walk and bike across the Potomac River.

We’re excited to watch this vision take shape!
