I snagged my two favorite mechanics to work on Miss Bertha at home! 😁

Bertha's getting new tie rod, king pins, wheel bearings, and pretty new brake shoes to go with her new CVSA sticker!

And tomorrow the Mini B is getting new motor mounts so it's not dancing around in the sidebox!

WHOHOOO!

Also, it's colder than...well it's cold today!! It was almost 90 yesterday! Jeez! Indiana weather!

Guess where I am? 🤣 New trailer delivery! I didn't even get told I was #1 for driving slow this trip either! 😅 I guess there's some advantages after all.

The Mini B (generator) broke free from her motor mounts.

There's nothing I can do until I get home next week. I already called Mr. Wrench in Shipshewanna and they walked me through what to do in the meantime.

I cringe at every bump and pothole now... 😬

When anyone tells you the roads are rough, believe them!

Ok, I'm going to go to bed and try not to worry about stuff I can't fix.

*faceplants the bed and immediately gets turned into a cat bed*

So New York was open in the rest area on I-81. I figured I'd roll through, right? No trailer, no concerns.

Wrong... 😐

I get pulled into a spot. And I'm honestly low-key stressing about Miss Bertha. Not only is she needing some repairs, she's looking a bit dirty. And I'm thinking to myself "Oh boy...here we go!"

This super nice DOT officer walks up and introduces herself. And again I'm stressing because (I hate to say it) female DOT can be absolute PILLS!

But thankfully she was super nice! And guess what?!?

Miss Bertha got a STICKER!!!! WHOHOO!!

Me on the hand wasn't so lucky. 🫢

Yeah, apparently the Town of Avoca holds grudges. Because I got put out of service for...

A ticket from TWENTY SIX (Yes, 26!) YEARS ago!!

I'll admit it. I was spluttering! I couldn't string a coherent sentence together!

Twenty. Six. Years.

26 year old ticket. I can hardly remember yesterday and it's 26 years old! My son is barely older than this ticket!

Ok, sorry. Still spluttering.

So on with the tale. I called the town and spoke with this super nice lady named Sara. (I'm so grateful for nice people!!) And after raiding my maintenance fund. (Because yes, my debit card had expired so I couldn't use that! 🤦‍♀️) I got it paid.

*mutters "26 freaking YEARS...")

She sent me an email receipt and now I'm good to go.

Yay? 🤣

Seriously...26 years.

That's going to take me a while to process...

Well, I'm obviously where Miss Bertha absolutely should -NOT- be. Yep! That's exactly what you think it is; a fully loaded flatbed IN. A. JOBSITE!

And guess who's now waiting for a forklift to pull Miss Bertha out of the sand and gravel?
